Is Masvidal in danger of being the next Diaz brother?

We all know what happens when you are step up and talk bad about the UFC and you're not a champ. You are basically 1 loss away from being blackballed. While I understand why Masvidal is playing hardball, the truth is he is 1 loss away and 1 new hype train away from losing all leverage. My fear is that he's played his hand poorly and will end up like the Diaz brothers, who are popular fan favorites but UFC can give 2 shits about them. Can't be biting the hand that feeds you unless you the king of the jungle. Discuss.

You mean smoking weed on their piles of cash, hanging out till uncle dana comes knocking when he needs a MSG card filled? Yeah probably. Diaz brothers made out like bandits bud.

He’s not nearly on their level of popularity. Losses didn’t hurt those guys at all. A loss in Masvidal’s next fight and he’s done for. It may as well have been in a title fight for title fight money. He’s not getting offered that same money for whatever his next fight is. And he’ll still have as a good of a chance of losing most likely.

I couldn’t imagine being the type of fan (or human in general) that doesn’t support someone fighting for what they believe in. Mas had an epic 2019 run and has fought the best guys for 2 decades for peanuts. He has every right to ask for what he deserves imo. Sometimes in life you need to fight for change, in his case that doesn’t just happen in the cage.

So decline the chance to win the UFC World Title, which he has never won? The chance to be called a former UFC WW world champion in 5 years time. Or the BMF champion? Guy has won three fights and it has gone to his head. Or his manager Kawa is sucking too much balls.

A Diaz wouldn't turn down a title-fight.
Masvidal is still right about a lot of things and is doing great work for the awareness of the fighter pay issue, it's everywhere now. I support him. But turning down a title-shot is still kinda a bitch move.
Kinda a double-edged sword.

He could demand more money after the title fight when he has more leverage and shit on the UFC and Dana as a champ, but he knows he will lose and not win the title.
