Libertarianism is one step away from anarchy. Almost zero government intervention. So why is anarchism considered a leftist ideology? Isn't the CHAZ place basically anarchy? Why are they lumped with leftism? Why is libertarianism considered right wing when it's so close to no government or anarchy?

Cause it's like going full circle or something back around

Because anarchists are mostly just a rebellion against their parents and aren't really a coherent ideology. They carry soviet flags and che guevara "merch" to show their "anarchy" ffs.

Libertarians get a lot of stuff wrong, but it really only falls apart in trade/foreign policy when dealing with other countries that aren't playing by the same libertarian rules, and it just hobbles the country with the better economy.

Libertarians are wrong too, but they're at least coherent and have a line they believe the government shouldn't cross even at the country's detriment. Anarchists want government expansion, they just want a menu they can pick from beforehand.

Egalitarianism versus "natural" hierarchy.
Hence why anarcho-capitalism (hierarchies of wealth akin to feudalism) is right-wing and social anarchism, collectivist anarchism and anarcho-communism (with a focus on egalitarianism and shared resources) are left-wing.

Libertarian philosophy is a response to socialism, or a planned society. From that comes the idea of freedom, something that is in and of itself valuable. The logical extension of this is that you work against a system.

Anarchy I have no idea where it figures into the spectrum. I don’t even know if it’s a legitimate ideal beyond being a kind of thought experiment and springboard for ethical questioning.

They dovetail conceptually but fault lines appear in how groups identify, what they value.

Anarcho-capitalism isn't left wing at all.

Libertarianism can be left or right wing imo.

libertarianism is a lefty idea from 150 years ago. Your entire framework and idea of libertarianism is from the right wing co opting of the term that happened in the 20th century

Hence the politicalcompas.org spectrum definition makes a lot of sense.
U.S. got the definition of "liberalism" all wrong.
In the EU we use liberal more in the definition of classical liberal (i.e. libertarian), and we say progressives, left-wing, or left-liberal to point to the left, recognizing that you can be both liberal and fiscally conservative, and against big government.

You can't rebuild in your own image if you don't flatten what's currently there.
Anarchists flatten.

For a good laugh, head over to the Reddit anti-fascist sub group. First off, they are borderline retarded. Second, it has to be the least well thought through political ideology ever. Unless the goal is LULZ.

Anarchy is neither left nor right. It literally means the absence of any kind of rule so it is not possible to sit on the left or right side of a parliament.
