Is it wrong for 2 guys to make a "gentlemen's agreement" to keep a fight standing?

Can't think of one but I wonder if 2 supremely confident strikers ever did this.
 
stuff like this went on in pride. then you got stuff like what happened at the end of the melendez vs sanchez fight, or the holloway vs lamas
 
Nah. Don't complain if you could've outgrappled him with ease and you chose to eat a jab all night, though.
 
Sakuraba and Newton made a gentlemen's agreement not to strike in their in Pride iirc. If there were 2 good strikers like say Till and Wonderboy who made this kind of agreement I'd have no problem with it, if it was 2 not very good strikers or 2 grapplers that made the decision I'd kinda be pissed off though.-
 
Been a while since I watched Hunt vs CroCop, but I wanna say they had this agreement. Anyone remember?
