Is it worth the $ to sit cage side at UFC shows?

I've been to plenty of boxing matches where it's worth it to buy floor level seats. I can see through the ropes and the action is all stand-up.

I'm going to an upcoming event and I wanted to know from anyone who has been to a UFC show, where are the best seats to watch a match in a cage?

Watching at home or a theater is great but we don't want to shell out money just to look up and watch the big screens all night to see what's happening.

no, I've done it twice and both times I spent a majority of the time having to watch on the screens they have set up. once it hits the ground you're pretty much screwed

Nope. You will watch the screen more than the fight no matter where you sit.

Unless you are in the first two rows it really isn't worth it imo.

For me the best seats outside of front row floor seats are the first 3 or 4 elevated rows, you are still pretty damn close to the cage and you get a really good view of everything inside of it.

only been to one real MMA fight(strikeforce back in the day) but been to many football games and good location at a reasonable altitude is much better value.

Only if you get to sit in between the ring girls...

I had nosebleed seats for UFC 68, literally, all the way back at the very top. And we had a bathroom up there that nobody was using, a concession cart that nobody was using, and 2 giant screens to each side giving us a great view of the action, and an exit leading down to the bottom past the crowd. At $100, I don't think I would have traded that for anything. You pay more for less conveniences, it seems.

Unless I got to sit between the ring girls.

I have been to all kinds of events from baseball, basketball, football, hockey and fighting. The only one that I really enjoy from the seats is hockey. All the others I would just as soon sit at home/friends/bar and watch them

It's worth just to blowgun Dana's bald head with your straw and wet paper napkins

If you don't receive blood and sweat in your face when fighters get punch, it's not worth it.

we always get floor seats, much prefer it down there. you can usually sit in the front row for the first few fights - as the "VIP" rich people dont turn up until later. we sat front row for the first 5 fights at UFC London last month, then retreated 10 rows to our seats once the people turned up. they paid about £2000 for their seats, we paid £140. Its good if you want to rub shoulders with guest fighters etc.
we also didn't need to watch the screens at all, apart from for the replays.

Floor seats suck. You want to see in the first deck up. Perfect view. Cheaper. But harder to get tickets. You can see both the ground game and stand up. Floor seats kinda suck once it hits the ground. I mean. If you're sitting where Joe Rogan is sitting. I'm sure it's awesome. But most floor seats you're not right up on the action. I prefer just watching on tv really. Maybe I'm getting old. Haha. But my memories of going live. Wow. Never forget. I went to ufc 66 and pride 33. Good times.

Great thanks for the advice everyone, going to the one in Tampa even with the headline match scrapped

Been to many events. Sitting on the floor sucks ass unless you got the prime seats in the first like 5 rows which is tough as most of those seats are comped for press, celebs, etc. THE BEST SEATS IMO are in the stands about 10 rows up. Youre not as close but you can see all the action. The best for the money is lower level in thew middle - "half court".

Maybe I am just jaded but twice I thought I had GREAT seats near the cage on floor -- both times I was about 8-10 rows back and both times I ended up watching the jumbotron more than the cage which I couldn't see. Sitting 15th row center to the cage was so much better and actually about 100 bucks cheaper. JMO

First elevated section is ideal. You'll get the most uptime on viewing live and not via screen that way, but the nature of the cage's upright posts and the cameraman platforms means you'll have to rely on them somewhat.

I prefer by far ordering a PPV with friends, in a convenient location, with people I choose to be around, with the food and beverages I want (craft beer for me), all of that for a fraction of the price and much less annoyance. Going to a sports bar is also a better option in my book for the same reasons.

Nothing wrong to go see a show live, it's all about your expectations, if you have reasonable expectations it might be worth it for you, I find that going to a show you enjoy mostly with your eyes isn't worth it because I'd rather have it broadcasted, when it comes to audio I will often prefer live. Another example is going to see a stadium motocross race, you end up not seeing much, the sound is incredible but I'd rather watch at home.

Have been to MMA events but never a UFC one. To be honest you see the fights way better on tv but you get a far better atmosphere live

I basically feel the same way. The only live events that I really enjoyed were back when I worked for Roger Staubach and we had a reserved suite at some of the stadiums here in the DFW area.
Got to see a Cowboys game, two Stars games, Bon Jovi and a couple other events from a suite that had it's own wait staff and seated 16 people that was between the floor seats and the upper decks. It was f'ing perfect.

Any time I couldn't get leftover company tickets for an event I just stayed home.

That's not the same as us peasants lol

Hockey is outstanding to see in person and the volume and energy is amazing. When the players hit the glass its thunderous, and watching them haul ass down the ice, the speed is so much different in person. I've taken my son to Kings games and he loves it, we have a great time. Ironically though I don't care to watch hockey on TV unless it's the playoffs.
