Is it really a smart way of gameplanning by Mcgregor?

I wouldn't take anything he says seriously. I'm sure he and his coaches gameplan like every other fighter and coach out there...

If he starts training every possible martial art, I think he might have an idea there

When you're a complete fighter, you don't need to gameplan, unless there's a specific type of opponent who has a big strategy to beat you and you have to gameplan against it.

Fighters like Aldo, Barao, Pettis, don't really need to gameplan.

However, every once in a while comes an animal that you must be ready for.

Example:

Cain against JDS. Cain usually fights everywhere, and to the opposite of what you might think, he only goes for a takedown if he sees an opening, it's not a strategy of his.

Against JDS, he has to gameplan, he has to push the pace, he has to grind him, he has to push him against the cage, he has to telegraph takedowns.

He's basically saying concentrate on your own skills and fight your own fight. Anything can happen in the cage so there's no point in trying to plan how the fight's going to go.
