Is it possible they overestimated the PPV-sales for this fight?

I personally would much rather pay for the Jones/Cormier fight (card).

I know Floyd/Conor is a big fight for the casuals.

But 100$ for this (freak) show?

Don’t get me wrong I am interested but not to that extent.

I’m European so I have a monthly subscription for everything UFC related.

I don’t know why the USA still use the PPV model?

So will this fight really sell 4-5 million as expected?

Even if it tanks, Conor can save up his one dollar bills, one strip at a time.

Saying it will be huge and break all records is also part of the promo.

No clue if it will but saying it will can very well convince people to also order the PPV.

Pretty much every guy in my circle of peers/friends/relatives is interested in seeing it. I've never seen that happen for any fight, boxing or MMA. Most of these guys are hockey and NFL fans, so I rarely bring up prize fighting around my friends because no one is informed or interested. I haven't brought up MayMac, either. It just comes up on its own.

It's anecdotal, I know. But the fight really does seem to be on the radar, and we are still 4 and a half weeks out.

Everybody's talking about it. Everybody involved behind the scenes are saying they've never seen anything like it before. People involved in the Mayweather/Pacqiauo fight - the current PPV record breaker - says the buildup for that fight didn't even come close to Maymac in terms of fan interest, news coverage and hype.

It's going to be massive.

Conor can pull around 1.5m in UFC. Floyd is not a big draw so with the hype and everything suggests 3m maximum. I think if they had priced it at 49.95 then it could maybe do 5m.
Either way same outcome imo.

Floyd vs a big name does over 2mill, Conor vs ufc fighter does over a million, both names coming together does minimum 3million buys imo.

That would be my guess as well.

The thing sherdoggers don't factor is the mentality of people who NEVER watch fights.

We all think "man if I paid a hundred dollars for every fight I wanted to see, it would cost thousands to be a fan".

They think "I never spend money on anything ppv. I really want to see this fight cuz everyone is talking about it. It's only a hundred dollars, I spend that on all kinds of shit. That's nothing to be in on the conversation with everyone on Monday."

This thing is gonna be fuckin huge.

In addition to that, SI is making like a documentary on Conor, Universal Studios is supposedly doing like a feature film on him, and Showtime is doing "unparalleled and unprecedented" behind the scenes footage of Mayweather. The UFC has basically freed up their August and will start promoting it after Jones/Cormier. The social media hits are through the roof, and ESPN hasn't even started promoting it hard yet... it's right before the football season, so everyone will be amped up, and every famous person is gonna be there...

So basically, I think it's gonna be a straight circus for the two weeks leading up to the fight and will do huuuuge numbers. Us Americans love to be a part of big events. Hell, I went to a party showing the May/Pacman fight, and half of the clueless casuals there were claiming ppl who "train UFC" could kill them, so those type of ppl are going to eat it up.

Yep. The appearance of success helps bring real success. They are just yakking but it will help the sales.

It's also possible they underestimate the pay-per-view Buy rate. Is fight touches the heart of people who love to watch stupid stuff, including myself.

People talk endless shit about these two but real talk you have to be in awe of them both if you really follow combat sports. Even if it's a crazy mismatch you can't miss it, at least I can't.

Floyd is the biggest draw of all time man he has the biggest PPV's ever by far under his name. People buy to possibly see him lose.

It will at least do 2 million PPV's and that is a success no matter how you look at it. I don't think it will come close to to the Floyd v Pacman fight though. To many people still remember how god awful that fight was and people are worried about the same result. Just look at Floyd's #'s against Berto they were average at best.

^^^ If all it does is 2million buys then Conor was better off renegotiating his contract with the ufc & staying there, it's ludicrous to think this fight does 2mill ppv buys. I honestly believe conor vs nate diaz 3 does 2mill buys, vegas over/under is 4.9mill & it's not by accident.

People I know who have never watched any fights have talked to me about it.

It's pretty big.

He was at one time but at this point Conor is the bigger draw. I doubt Floyd vs anyone else would sell much because of the huge letdown that was Floyd vs Pacman.

Like another poster mentioned, I'm even thinking that fight will negatively impact this one to an extent.

People who can't even throw a punch has talked to me about this.

Gon be huge.

I have a strong feeling it is going to be a flop. I'm looking for a UK bet on low pay-per-view numbers.
