I was thinking about this and Serra got his shot from winning TUF Comeback which I don't see them doing again and not only that he beat the best WW of all time. Anytime this discussion comes up I think that nothing can come close to that.

Damacio Page winning TUF 24 and beating Mighty Mouse would be the biggest upset of all time.

My personal biggest upset is Aldo losing in 13 seconds

Non UFC it's when Fedor lost

    what the fuck

Not bigger, but certainly FUNNIER was Bisping knocking Luke the F out.

And then even more epic than the win itself was Lukes endless saltiness afterwards.

Stop this hindsight narrative that Holm/Rousey isn't the biggest upset in MMA history. Holly Holm was a +2100 underdog 24 hours before the fight.

Holm is a striker. Serra was a grappler and iirc he didn't have a single tko finish in his career prior the GSP fight, also his last win was a split dec over Lytle

It is just so rare for a champ of GSP's caliber to be fighting someone who is considered so far below his level like Serra. That makes that upset hard to match because fights like that just don't take place very often.

Holm vs. Rousey or Bisping vs. Rockhold were pretty unexpected.

so what? people could have thought he could have won on the ground and GSP wasn't a dominant champion at the time.

I don't see one. I don't even think Serra's own mother thought he was winning that fight. Serra himself pretty much went in swinging hard and hoping for the best.

Why ? I thought if it went to the ground Rousey wins but if Holm kept it standing she would win , pretty sure that was most peoples thoughts & even now .
Serra was considered to have 0 chance on the feet or on the ground .

Bisping upsetting Rockhold is bigger. Only way it isn't is if you factor in what GSP did afterwards, which is absurd. it was GSP's first title defense, and sure, Serra was of lower position than Bisping was, but factor in that Bisping had already lost to rockhold, was coming in on short notice, and Rockhold was already an established great middleweight, it becomes pretty clear that bisping knocking rockhold out, in context, is a bigger upset.

no she wasn't. The biggest upset, oddswise, is Sokoudjou over Little Nog, at +1350. You're chatting shit.

GSP wasn't the GOAT at that time.

Holly KTFO of Ronda. And there have been bigger spreads.

    Come on 2010 account.
