A champ that never defends? I’m not so sure TS
Off course they will. It just comes and goes. To what level who knows. But guys at Conor level don't come around often, maybe a one or two every 30 to 40 years.
Look at professional wrestling that controls every aspect of what we see and they can't make star after start after star at the level of Hogan, Rock, or Austin.
Look at boxing there has only been a hand full of guys in the last 50 years to be anywhere near the Tyson n Paq levels of paydays and really Mayweather has blown them all out of the water.
Probably not. Connor is a once in a generation athlete/personality.
who is currently on track to be a big star?
Costa if he wins the belt, and moves up to 205
Weili Zhang after a terrific defense against Joanna, also a potential double champ
as big as Conor? doubt it
would anyone want to see either of them in a boxing crossover fight?
Dude his last fight sold a million buys, this will sell more and the GSP fight has the potential to break the record. His fight with Poirier was watched by 1/4 of Russia.
Conor is becoming irrelevant day by day. Deal with it bro.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Khabib is megastar on a similar level to Conor Mcgregor
There will be another. It’s just gonna take a while for someone to rise. There are superstars for every generation. And it they will blow up when you least expect it
Not even close. Accomplishments, yes, Khabibi could be become the most accomplished UFC fighter in history. Popularity, not so much. In the USA, he is not that popular. In Russia, where he is poplular, they do not buy PPVs.
He is popular. People that know Conor, know Khabib and vice-versa. They both broke the PPV record not just Conor. Takes 2 to tango.
living in sweden for 10 yrs does not a viking make.
of course there will be another star like conor
everyone cried and made babies when chuck and randy retired, and look where we are now/
John Cena and Brock Lesnar?
Not in the current generation. Khabib is the closest thing but his stardom won't be comparable in the western world, although he's obviously huge in the Middle East.
It could be a while before we see anyone achieve Conor level of fame. It took about 20 years for boxing to produce someone who could rival Ali's popularity.
Chimaev has already eclipsed McGregor
Well there are still human beings on the planet so I'd have to say yes, assuming UFC continues operating for another 5-10 yrs. It won't happen every year but it's absolutely bound to happen over time if ppl keep watching and participating in the sport/entertainment.
Yup. There's a reason he gets 30 million per fight and has so many merchandising partnerships lined up. Conor WISHES he had Chimaev's stardom and fame!
I can barely stand 6 feet away from someone in my goddamned mask without hearing them chant "Chi-ma-ev! Chim-ah-ev!"
(they use both spellings too, smdh)
Artem Lobov is ready for MMA comeback. Connor learnt everything from him. Easy win for Dana
Said the man with a Flocki av
You do realize people can be megastars but not be popular in America right?
Lol @ thinking Khabib. Conor is a household name, my mother knows who McGregor is. Nobody outside MMA fans knows Khabib.
Someone will come along and be bigger than McGregor. Jones might have been, he was on Leno and so on, but the personal screwups ruined it.
If they had a Chinese fighter that was champ
Separate names with a comma.
