is it legal hunting and killing mountain lions, bears and wolves in the US and Canada?

It really depends on where you are in their individual ranges? Saying the species is fine yet they barely exist in the majority of their historic ranges.
I actually had the pleasure of studying wolves in Wisconsin, the amount of hatred and propaganda spread is impressive. It’s been mentioned that their numbers are expanding and causing problems for farmers and that hunting is the answer. The problem with this, hunting wolves is actually proven to cause more depredation because it often fractures the pack dynamics.
When the packs become fractured they have difficulty taking down normal prey so they go after easy prey like cows.

And there are situations where targeting specific game that is invasive can be literally the right thing to do for the environment to protect biodiversity and the health of native species populations.

Like going on a big nutria cull, or hunting feral hogs.

Yeah some of this shit talking of hunters comes from people that think their steaks grow on the meat tree or come from the meat fairy.

    You ever try bobcat meat?

Invasive feral pigs are an ecological nightmare.

If hippies and rednecks and hippy rednecks can band together to take out invasive pigs responsibly using ARs and a pack of trained dogs it's good for the environment and should be encouraged.

Hunting is and should be regulated. But as game populations change, weather changes, or invasive species enter an environment then regulations may need to change to support the health of the environment.

The reason we even have a national park system is because Teddy Roosevelt was horrified at the idea that his grandkids might not be able to hunt if we didn't preserve the land.

    I haven't and don't intend to. I can't imagine a carnivore being good eating.

I mean they will be killed and eaten either way and the game doesn't know the difference. They'll happily wait their turn to have their heads torn from their bodies in a line or fly free to be shot.
I'd contend hanging them by their feet to slowly have their heads pulled off is far more cruel than a bit of freedom and steel shot.

No idea how you wouldn’t know about this, unless you you’re a city dweller. I have a rancher buddy who catches wolves on his trail cams regularly. I have a friend who had a mountain lion watching her from 30 yards away while she shoveled out her car.
