I feel that card deserves more attention than what it's getting. 2 title fights, 1 of them is 2 champs on their prime.

I think the normal, sane posters are sick of all the Conor threads and just want it to be over.

Are you talking here at sherdog, or from a marketing standpoint?

Literally every other thread here for the past month has been about McG and RDA.

I think there is little promotion on this in comparison to the Aldo one, but I also feel like this one defends itself by its own greatness. It doesn't need to be promoted, everybody knows about it already.

Outside of the two title fights the only fight worth talking about is Nunes and the other chick, it's a pretty wack card after those three fights.

Wait until fight week though and all of those Conor nuthuggers will be out in full force.

I agree. There's very little promotion from what I've seen.

The UFC went all out promoting the first fight with Aldo that ended up being cancelled. Then they were pretty conservative the second time around, understandably, given Aldo's track record. But for this one I don't understand the reservations. Dos Anjos is pretty reliable and champion vs. champion is huge. They should be flooding the media like they did for the first Aldo fight. Maybe Conor said he didn't want to do a ton of media?

How could Conor lose if he's going to win?

Nah he's right, this card has had nowhere near the promotion that 189 and 194 had.

Not much hype at all, really just seems MMA is in a huge decline. Not much buzz for anything. No charismatic fighters. MMA is dying, or at least dying way down. It is sad when Bellator is becoming more popular and well known than the UFC.

UFC is a joke, they say they have the best fighters in the world but it is the biggest lie. They have a bunch of bum athletes that couldn't cut it in the other sports. Who is fighting on ufc 196? Who even cares. Who is fighting tonight? Who is fighting next week on the pointless fightpass card that no one will watch? I use to be able to answer all these, and watch every UFC and major mma event. But now it just sucks, and most of the time is spent watching bad fights or people you don't know/care about. The WORST part? You buy a pvp, then have fucktard idiots like Dana, and Joe Rogain try to HARD SELL you on every fight. And they just never stop with the sales pitch. And fuck Bruce Buffer. That guy is painful. I miss the old days. Who is the buzz suppose to even be about in MMA? Honda? She shouldn't even be fighting, she is a headcase and she has lost her appeal. McGregor is just a joke, and ruins anything just with a mention of him. Anyway, I myself am about a sliver from done. Really though, who is even fighting on 196? And who even cares?

Clearly they do if they're stacking her on a card with Conor

They don't need to get the word out, the word is already out.

Conor is no longer the star in the making, he's the star. They've already saturated the interest of both the hardcores (RDA vs. McGregor) and casuals (Holm) with this card. A massive marketing campaign would help sure but we're talking major diminishing returns + possible fatigue after all the McGregor press in 2015. They're doing it smartly. The fight will do big numbers.

189 still did like 900k ppvs so it's not like they took a loss. They still made bank on that card.

Yeah it's pretty weird. I think ever since Aldo pussed out the first time they have been conservative in promoting fights.

Of course. Regardless of what they do, it'll sell well. But don't they want it to sell as well as it possibly can? The tepid ad campaign certainly isn't maximizing this fight's earning potential.
