Look at round 4. Islam had Volk in a body lock for 3 minutes and did absolutely nothing with it. Not a single strike, while he took dozens and dozens of tiny pats to the head from Volk.

Imagine Khabib having a body lock on someone for 3 minutes and doing jack squat with it, not a single choke attempt or strike or advance of the position? Never would happen

Islam is nowhere near Khabib. Never challenged him in practice, never had the GNP than Khabib did. Might be a bit better on standup but he's easier to hit too.

Volk is a beast but Islam is a 2nd-tier Khabib it's obvious

I think the opposite khabib would have never been as good as he was without Islam. Brothers make strong brothers

He’s a better striker one thing about Khabib is that he had an iron chin and trusted it and that allowed him to bullrush even the hardest hitters he fought. Islam chin is average he can be hurt so he has to be more careful getting to his spots in the grappling.

Also Volk is a fucking beast and I’d pick him to beat everyone at 155 except Islam right this second

I think Islam is more complete than khabib, as good on the ground, better striker, but he lacks fight IQ, khabib was a masterful tactician, that what makes the difference for me.

I've never bought that Islam would be the Khabib 2.0. Couldn't see it.

Tbh, Volk reminds me more of Khabib, in terms of mentality not style.

He might meet someone with better skills and/or strategy that can beat him, but his discipline and determination just seem completely locked in.

Yep, I think it's Volk's mentality paired with his skillset that sets him apart. So many guys would have just accepted the takedown in round 5 and tried to survive until the bell. Volk fought like his life depended on it and pushed Islam to the limit.
