Many believed that Roy Jones jr career fell because of going up to heavyweight and going back down again which played a factor in his defeat to Tarver. Isn't Conor going up from 145 to 170 a bit much on his body due to the fact that its too big of a jump in weight?

I know GSP has talked about this a lot and although I do not like Conors shit talking, I can respect him as a fighter but this seems too much too soon...

I don't really see it as Conor moving up to WW because he's not fighting a WW fighter. He's fighting someone who usually fights at LW on 11 days notice.

McGregor doesn't give a shit about wins or losses.

He's just trying to make the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time, and he's only going to do that by fighting the biggest names available who will talk up a grudge match for the highest amount of PPV buys.

Nate's a big LW who has fought at WW several times in the past

And looked soft (in terms of his physique). Nate is sort of caught on the cusp, but he is definitely not a sizeable welterweight, to TS' question. Also, McGregor will not be buffing himself up to 170. I doubt he'll weight more than 165. This isn't a lengthy body transformation process. The 170 pound limit is merely to accommodate Diaz.

I think Conor walks around at around 170. He's not ballooning up to fight someone like Roy did.

That has nothing to do with what ts was talking about. He's asking if it's a bad move to move up in weight so much then move back down. Stuff like that kills your timing which is what Roy Jones and Gsp has mentioned in the past.

Probably says more about how ridiculous his 145 cut is than anything else

I don't think so...Roy added 25lbs of muscle to a body that could still make super-middleweight. Conor has been killing himself to make 145lbs. He will benefit from fighting with no cut, he isn't adding a ton of new muscle.

Well this isn't a 170lb fight. It's two 155lbers who aren't cutting much weight. If he does face the elite at WW I.E: Rory, Lawler etc… Then yeah, he gets starched, but he won't. The guy is smart, those sort of moves won't happen until the end of his career.

How many times does this have to said? HE IS FIGHTING A LW AT 170!!!
Conor is fighting at his everyday weight. He will be healthier without having to fight an actual WW.

I mean, this all came two weeks out. So he was still in the process of getting his weight ready to make 155. So really he's still coming in as a LW. He's just not making the weight cut now.

You say it's a mistake but I say it's a huge plus that brought tons of awesome fights. It's a pro fighter's job to abuse their bodies to entertain us. The ballsier they are, the more abuse they're willing to take, the better it is for us. If they play it safe and extend their career longevity, that's bad news, because they're the only ones benefiting from it, not us. Will Conor take more damage this way? Sure. Will his health suffer long term? Possibly. So what? I missed the part where that's my problem. All I know is the fight at 196 is still happening, and I'm still going to be entertained.

Plus, RJJ was pretty untouchable until his loss to the magic man what, in his mid-30s? If Conor can keep his streak going until then, we're talking another good 7-8 years. If his body breaksdown then well so be it, I would have been thoroughly entertained already.

I like your straight forwardness and you have a good point. Many of us unworthy peasant work shitty unimpressive blue collar jobs while destroying out bodies without learning fuck all about martial arts.

TS is too fucking stupid to understand this concept. He thinks Connor is a FW and Nate is a WW, like a true retard.
