Is having children.....

there isn't many things that are more sad to see that someone who can't afford to take care of their kids. Rather it be financial reason or they still want to go out and have fun, its just sad.

I know a girl that got knocked up and is my age (21) who makes her sisters take care of her baby while she goes out and gets drunk constantly and has sex with multiple guys. Even her best friend said she was a horrible parent and the baby momma constantly complains about not having a fun life. I feel bad for the kid knowing it probably wont have much of a future simply because its mom was irresponsible and got knocked up and literally has nothing going for her. I imagine she will turn into one of the many poor parents that relies on hard working american's tax money simply because she screwed her life up and needs help from the government.
 
luckily none of the parents of any of the posters within this forum subscribe to this shit.

Post topics roughly conform to the interests the majority of posters. MMA fans and Internet users are aging, topics are migrating from adolescence/early 20's into adulthood/middle age.

It should give you a lot to take umbrage with.

In 30 years it'll be pensions and viagra.
 
It can be either selfish or selfless. Depends on the person, their beliefs, their situation, and whether they've having children to create a beautiful life for them or if they're doing it for selfish reasons.

Feel bad for that kid and the mom is a can but where's the father in all of this?

no idea, im guessing he knocked her up and they broke up and he pays child support, all i know is they weren't in a committed relationship
 
I don't think some people realize how big a deal it is to create another human being.

And it doesn't take a genius to pick people out and say 'they need no more children'.

I'm all for enforced sterilization once a female has given birth twice.
 
My dad used to say stuff like this to me when I was younger. I get his point but life is better than no life.

I haven't gotten to the point of feeling like people should be sterilized lol. I simply had an epiphany about the sort of reasoning a person goes through when they decide to have children. And it's clear to me the reasons people decide to have children are 100% about self fulfillment if not an outright mistake which they don't choose to correct with an abortion.
 
My daughter was unplanned, so we were only selfish for going no rub!

You know that how you think about this is based on your culture, your beliefs, your life experiences, and that the product of your thinking is no more than the product of your thinking. This is not meant as an offense, but you seem like you are suffering from depression, or at least depressed thinking, so maybe expanding your understanding of other cultures, other beliefs, and expanding your life experiences would get you out of your darkness. For starters: do you exercise, do you spend much time in nature, do you have much social interaction, do you practice meditation or employ any other self help strategies, have you ever read any empirically supported self help books for depression, do you practice thankfulness for the good things in your life? Also, are you using any drugs, alcohol or medications that could be influencing your thinking?

That type of analysis is not going to give you answers, or peace, or relief from suffering. The human mind is an amazing thing in terms of mastering how to stay alive on earth, and even on a satellite orbiting earth :), but it didn't evolve to answer these types of question, and these types of questions really have no meaning when you consider that they are just a product of the human mind.

right, and even being self sacrificing can be traced back to conditioning from parents and society, which means that people who are self sacrificing were rewarded in some way for being self sacrificing, and that they have been conditioned to self sacrifice, and even self reward when they are self sacrificing (Pavlov called it a conditioned stimulus and a conditioned response). Hedonism is basic, and conditioning and learning build on hedonism, for prosocial or antisocial behaviors, depending on the organism's interaction with its environment .
