Is Fedor vs. Cro Cop still...

I seem to remember Rampage vs Rashad being hugely hyped, and then hugely disappointing.

Hunh? Griffin/Bonnar put brought MMA as a whole to a higher level of viewership. Think what you will of when the Golden Era of MMA was, but that one fight, other the then 1st UFC tourny, had the most impact on viewership as a whole.

so then i take it that your sole criteria on considering the most historical/monumental fight in all of mma's history is based on viewership alone?

the specific fighters fighting and the level of the stakes have no bearing in your mind?

UFC (and by that MMA) was slowly going down the tubes. Fedor/CC didn't save MMA but it could be argued that Bonnar/Griffin did.

Fedor v CC - 8/2005 - Pride was at it's peak, 2 years later Pride is done.

Forrest v Bonnar - 4/2005 - UFC was close to utter failure, almost 8 years later and it's the biggest ORG out there.

Yes, it is the "biggest" fight to date. GSP vs Silva could have rivaled it, but now only Silva/Jones can eclipse it.

penn vs gsp II, silva vs. sonnen II could arguably be considered better since it was p4p #1s fighting aswell as rematches for very competitive first fights.

if silva ever fights gsp or bones it will no doubt be the biggest and most important fight in the history of mma

just gonna quote mauro ranallo
this one will be for ages

According to rogaine and Goldie the next fight on the card always is

Yes it was.

It was the most all rounded heavyweight mma fighter until nowadays against one of the most dangerous stand up fighters.

Silva vs chael 2? LOL. You guys are easily hyped. Wrestlers are a bad matchup stilistically for the '''''''''''''''''''''''''''GOAT''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''', but deep down Chael is a not close to the skill level of Silva. Sonnen is not a bad fighter at all, but godamn people are easily hyped.

Some will say Griffin / Bonnar but those two are not elite fighters, Yes they put UFC into the mainstream but in terms of top HW talent going toe-to-toe at the peak of their careers it's got to be Fedor/CroCop.... if Wandy/Liddell happened when it was supposed to than that would have been the biggest but it didn't... Fedor/CroCop, most epic tilt in MMA ever.
