Fedor is obviously the MMA GOAT, but how do his grappling skills compare with the UFC GOAT GSP?

Put them in a fight and let's find out.

One used grappling to control the other used it to destroy.

Prime for prime, Fedor was the better grappler. GSP had a better double leg though (obv)

Dat grappling

feg jackson kept screaming at gsp not to pass hardy's guard LMAO

Styles are so different.

GSP is more of a wrestle-jits style. Similar to Shields, but GSP has better GnP and TD's.

Fedor has (had) ridiculous GnP, but his overall grappling game was a little looser, which led to scrambles. He was great at scrambling and transitions when he was young, and less so with age.

Simple answer

Yes

Fedor was grappling at the age Gsp was still dreaming of having Van Damme stand up.

Hello no. Fedor never fought decent competition, and GSP dominated in the toughest division in MMA

Yes Fedor was a better grappler than GSP.

Fedor took more risks and still managed to control/batter his opponents.

GSP. Better takedowns, better takedown defense, better top control, outgrappled some world class grapplers (Hughes, BJ, Diaz, etc.). Fedor was loose and unpredictable but GSP was just solid as a brick wall on the ground.

Firs of all I would like to say Fedor is my favorite fighter ever and I think he is the GOAT,

Fedor had some very powerful grappling. Explosive submissions. Fast hips that threw up incredible armlocks. His armlocks on Coleman were a thing of beauty for a HW. Coleman has fought his share of BJJ black belts. Nog, Shogun, Bonnar (Renzo Black belt)and not one of them armlocked or came close to armlocking Coleman that swiftly. Fedor also incredible entry speed when transitioning from punching and kicking to closing the gap and hiptossing 250lb men like they were nothing. For that time there was no one doing it quite like that. In the guard Fedor showed great posture and strength and the best GnP the sport had ever seen at that time. What he did to DeLaRiva black belt Big Nog in the guard was a fascinating feat at the time and still is today.

Fedor was a fantastic, fantastic grappler for mixfight during his prime years when he had the youth and athleticsim to back him out of situations where he wasnt technical enough. When he got older and lost those attributes, you saw him start to struggle.

Overall I would say GSP is the more technical grappler. Better wrestler with better takedown defense and better understanding of positional control. Fedor as great as he was had some really poor grappling habits. Gave up position a lot. Gave up his back a lot etc. GSP is the more technical wrestler and controller. Fedor's by far had better finishing instincts and faster grappling hips and natural instinct for grappling but I believe GSP is a bit more technical and refined in wrestling and position control and understanding.

GSP but not by as much as most would think. Just minor details.

Totally the opposite, but keep up the myth.

Wow, Kos, Hardy, dinosaur Hughes, Alves, Fitch, OMG, what would Fedor do against guys like that?
It's worth noting that after Pele wrecked Hughes, he earned an invitation to Pride. Here he lost in lame fashion, in the only fight I ever saw Matsui win.
