Because he lost to Phil Davis in that fashion? I don't see anyone hyped up about him fighting or anything.

I think he's going to pick up the W this weekend against OSP and I think he'll look good doing it. I think he's still a contender and no one's going to stand toe 2 toe with this guy in this division.

But now that people were forced to watch him get out grappled for 15 minutes, I think they're turned off by his potential to beat the other wrestlers like Cormier. But I honestly think he's better than what he showed against Davis. He's known to have some really tough cuts but if you've seen him today, he actually looks a lot leaner and fixed that issue.

205 is getting too thin to forget a guy like Teixeira who is world class. I think he can make a run for contention.

It's hard to get behind him after what we saw. He doesn't have that aura around him anymore of being the next Chuck Liddell.

Yeah that fight was brutal for his reputation. Sadly for him most of the guys at the top of the division are great wrestlers.

Well, that Davis loss put him back with the rest of the pack, where he'll probably stay for a while. I feel kind of like he's in post-steroids Overeem territory right now. Still ranked, but how many of the top five can he really beat?

Not really. Davis is the LHW Fitch, making fights look boringly bad while wearing pink shorts is his raison d'etre. Glover can still do some things in the division, even though he's not beating the champ. His time is limited though.

The only wrestler in the UFC currently that's good enough to beat him at 205 is Cormier

He already beat Bader who isn the only other wrestler based fighter in the top 10. Everyone at LHW are geezers at this point and they're not getting much better.

I feel like Glover's underrated now.

Yep, I remember that. Every times Jones has a fight, his opponent is the guy that's finally going to crack his chin, outwrestle him, negate his reach, whatever. Yet they all lose.

It's a testament to Jon's strength of schedule that there are never accusations--besides Chael--that his opponents suck; at least until after the fight's over, then all the discrediting starts. "He's past his prime," "he's too small," "eye pokes," "he was never that good anyway," etc.

I agree that he will put OSP away, but I've never been greatly impressed with either of them (measured as top level MMA fighters). Glover is slow and not a very versatile fighter. He is tough as anyone and he can throw hands with most fighters in the division, so he'll always have that chance. His cardio and speed aren't all that, however.

Yeah I was including Jones. To get the belt you have to be able to nullify that wrestling. There's also Rashad though. He could do the same thing that Davis did.

That's was a bad performance and glover isn't really young. That being said he has great boxing and bjj (although primerily a solid top game)

Glover is suffering because he essentially trained at his house with nobodies for his last couple fights. If he gets back into a good team he can give everyone problems at 205.

He's faced numerous wrestlers, including Jon Jones, and that was the first time a wrestler did anything to him on the ground.

and it took the Phil Davis fight to figure that out? not when he was nearly KO'd by Bader and Maldonado? not to mention he's like 36 already.
