Is Eryk Anders the example of "A-level Athletes" from team sports MMA is looking for?

He's a C-
Couldn't even make an NFL roster, something Schaub did
Practice squad, arena football and never started a single game in whole college career...........That's scoobas football career

The better athlete doesn’t always mean they’re going to be a great fighter. There’s different kinds of athletes and certain athletic abilities and what not are good for specific fighting styles. These so called A level athletes you all obsess over, the vast majority have shit cardio. Big, strong, fast, done after 5 minutes or less, usually way less. Dana/WME care about having the most entertaining fighters that can draw a crowd or will draw one day. Dana & Friends aren’t like the idiotic ‘Brrooo AAA+ level athlete! Big muscles babyyyy!’ Like so many immature idiots here. This A level athlete bullshit.. it’s gotta stop. It’s straight up garbageeeee.

A great athlete is someone who had attributes for their particular sport.

Mo Farrah is a great athlete with phenomenal accomplishments.
But according to Sherdog A Level Standards, he would be C Level because his lifts, vertical, and 40 times would be unimpressive.

This whole idea on who's considered an A-Level athlete and who's not is just pure bullshit. At the end of the day, they're all athletes getting paid to do whatever sport they're in, some just happen to be better at said sport than others.
Agreed. People on Sherdog bring up A-level athletes all the time. They talk about football (NFL) and basketball partly because they want to live vicariously through an athlete that has competed in these sports Probably because they played sports in highschool/college, as it provides them with a false sense of security because they too feel like they could be an MMA fighter.

PS- it's easier to look great when you're just running a ball up and down a court or a field instead of getting punched and kicked in the face

Why are everybody so high on this dude? He is nothing special, showed nothing amazing and had a close fight with Tim fucking Williams. Showed zero fight IQ against Machida. He will never be even top 10.

No, Anders' athleticism is overrated. He doesnt seem any quicker or smoother than any of his opponents. He got to the NCAA through hard work, not raw talent or exceptional physical attributes.

As for the second question, there are several.
This guy here is 5'7

a great return but the defense was so shit on that one

I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume that the most athletic guys are going to gravitate towards the sports that pay the best.

plenty of short guys in the NFL, though none in defensive positions.
well, depends on your definition of short.

There have been some short defensive backs at the 5'6" range like Mark McMillan who was a starting corner for most of the 90s.
Then there 5'8"ers playing Corner now like Jamarcus Joyner and Nickell Robey-Coleman.

he was an amateur football player, never made the NFL.. is he a better athlete then anyone in MMA, of course, but not A level.

A level athletes are being paid millions in MLB,NHL,NFL, Soccer and NBA... a person wouldnt chose to get punched in the face for 200,000 a year or less when they could be making millions playing games

Check this article please:
https://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/03/tides_eryk_anders_makes_one_la.html

"One year to be more than the undersized, pass-rushing specialist who famously preserved Alabama's 2009 national title by sacking Texas' quarterback and forcing a fumble."

"Anders has added 25 pounds to his 6-foot-1 frame since the BCS Championship Game and now weighs 245 pounds. He says he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds recently in training and believes he can rush the quarterback in the NFL."

It seems to be that he WAS a successful football player and hadn't he been undersized, he could've had a bright future in the NFL.
He actually had to BULK to 245 to be there. Now he's a MIDDLEWEIGHT.

Is it something MMA orgs have to aim for - successful yet undersized fighters from team sports than can be VERY successful in MMA and take it to new level?

Yes, he was an A-level athlete. People seem to confuse A-level athlete and good football player, because they're idiots.

And yes, he also got beat by a 45 year old worn down Lyoto Machida.

Just because he trimmed down for fighting and cuts weight doesn't mean he actually weighs 185.

Says here he was 230 playing football!

He didn’t have what it takes to make it to the major leagues of his sport

It’s like in basketball you often see guys having amazing careers in ncaa, but then are below average once (if) they go to the nba.

The level of athleticism between college n pros is night n day.

Only 1 or 2% of all college players make it to the pros, so you gotta be elite to make it there.

Mma is still filled up with backyard brawlers

It has nothing to do with athleticism you idiot. They're are literally PHYSICAL MEASUREMENTS to assess this shit, and some of the highest measurements are not the best players.

The difference is people who understand the fundamentals of the sport and don't. Just like in fighting. Get over it you cuck.

Listen to this moron...

You gotta look at the size when talking about “athleticism”

Some manlet doing backflips n somersaults is not the same as a 7 footer doing them

In this case he was clearly not athletic nuff for his size

He was obviously good football player when it comes to the game itself

That’s why he was able to be a starter on a ncaa team, however he didn’t have size/athleticism for the pros n that’s why he didn’t make it

The end

He ran a 4.55 at 230 lbs. Who is running faster than that? It's fundamentals you moron. Something you wouldn't know anything about eating cheetoh bowls on your couch.

What is more impressive?

100m in 11.52s - Anothny Joshua 260 punds

or

100m in 11.52 14 y/o beta cuck - 100 pounds

?
