He's looked pretty terrible in his last couple of fights. Even in his first fight against Linton he looked bad and he looked shitty against Beltran of all people. Kinda crazy that he beat Mo twice and arguably McGreary.

What say ye? He seems to be getting progressively crazier and I think it's affecting his performances. Maybe he should drop to 185.

I think he has now entered the territory of Houston Alexander and Sokoudjou, a guy who had a notable peak but has sunk back down to reality where he belongs.

He has achieved all he's ever going to achieve in the sport.

I think he hit his ceiling and coming down now. He might still have more fight in him though. I think there's a lot going in his head, talking about chakras and coming out with that Bible then going from hard rock to that terrible knockoff Nickleback intro music lol, ugh (hopefully that was Bellator's decision).

Yeah, I think he's done all he could in this sport. He peaked in 2014 and has gone off the deep end. You saw my thread earlier this month where he blamed his loss on strenuous pre-fight romantic activities. That's a wrap on ol Manny Newton.

Maybe, at least he isn't getting knocked out.

Any idea what he was making as champ?

Emmanuel Newton = next UFC LHW champ

Yeah I think he's past it. He looked terrible last night and I don't even remember him landing more than 1 or 2 punches.

I sorta agree that he's getting weirder and it's affecting his performances. Him talking about being connected to his newtons and electrons was strange.

His walkout with the bible reminded me of diegos walkout with the cross in hand

No, Newton fought as awkward as usual yesterday. I had him winning the second round, those nutshots screwed him in the end. He fought some really tough competition in his last 4. Putting him against Stephan Bonnar or Brian Rogers would likely get him in the win column.

He's in a little bit of a funk.

Losing to Davis and narrowly to McGeary is no problem.
Losing a 3rd straight to a guy he beat previously is a bump in the road. But it's only 1.

I'm not sure if he needs more weed or less.

Def. on a downswing.

We'd need Mo/Newton III to truly gauge it.

If Newton was serious about fighting he would drop to MW, get in a proper training camp, and drop all that spiritual/universe mumbo jumbo that's messing up his mentality.

newton has always looked terrible. he was on his way to losing the first linton fight and joey beltran. i guess if this were pride people would make a big deal about his "warrior spirit" for comebacks, but we've seen too many fighters who were competitive or dominant the entire time to accept that.

I'm still upset he beat King Mo twice.

I'll be okay though.

He's been figured out a bit honestly. He was an awkward guy with pretty decent takedown defense, basically this generations Keith Jardine.

Some elite wins, but not an elite talent at the end of the day.

Definitely feel like he hit his ceiling. His striking isn't scaring any top fighter, his grappling is OK. Doesn't fight with any sense of urgency. And the excuses after his previous two fights were ridiculous, beyond Big Nog/Bigg Rigg tier.

But...but...channeling neutrons and protons, and stuff!

a move to middleweight would be good for him. Maybe match him up with Leben for his debut.

He should be done in Bellator. Maybe a few wins and get singed by the UFC could give him some motivation. I'd like see him as part of the bottom depth in the shallow UFC LHW division. If you beat Gian Villante and Tom Lawlor you could be ranked.
