Is Eddie Alvarez really a better win than Al Iaquinta?

Is Eddie really a better win than Al?
Yes, in every way yes.

And if we are talking about bullshit decisions let talk about Al’s best ‘win’ over masvidal.

This overblowing of Al is getting ridiculous.

Even if Al is more talented. He wasn't an active fighter and made little progess or even maintenance with his skills, while Eddie had been active and kept improving by facing different challenges. So I'd definitely say that the Eddie Conor faced was better than the Al, who was half out of the game, who Khabib faced.

The agenda and narrative is always fluctuating after the fact, mma fans are very very fickle. Prior to the fight many were hoping Eddie was going to work Conor, he got outclassed and he went from the underground king to a scrub overnight.

This maybe the most disrespectful post I’ve ever seen . Eddie has been champion in ever organization he has ever been in

To be fair, I feel like masvidal would KO eddie

Eddie was overrated on here by Conor haters prior to the fight
But he's still a better win than Al

How has Eddie improved at all since Bellator? The Eddie that finished Aoki is far better than any version of Eddie in the UFC...

Having better performances doesn't mean you were actually a better fighter at that time. Maybe the later fighters he faced were tougher stylistic match ups or just better fighters overall, maybe Eddie was improving, but he went injured into a fight and didn't perform to the height he reached with his improvements. Or maybe even Aoki didn't have his day, which made Eddie look better by making it easy on him. You gotta remember that 98% of what happens is behind the screen.

But what is sure is that UFC's overall level of competition is the highest there is especially at lightweight (even though he faced great competition outside the UFC too), and he kept facing fighters at the highest level and was mostly successful. Which means he had to at least have his skills up to a certain point that could outmatch his opponent. While Al was both not very active and when he was active didn't face the opposition Eddie had, so he didn't even have to have the same level of overall skill (maybe he had, but he didn't have to have) that Eddie had to have for his UFC run to the title.

And I know not all Eddie's performances were the most exciting in the UFC, but he did have smart game plans to get the W and exploit his opponents weaknesses. I'd say he has shown more in that department than Al has.

Do you blame us ?

The way Eddie performed was shocking.. he looked like a non pro fighting for the first time in a main event with a lights on him. No game plan, no IQ, no nothing he showed up to be the sacrifice. Hell he had people wonder if he took a dive for crying out loud.

Lose or win just show up.

Saying that Khabib never beat anyone good is dumb.

But saying that Al is better than Eddie is equally dumb.

Look, Conor has proven himself and was the champ. Khabib has as well and is the current champ. Both these guys are absolutely amazing at what they do. We are blessed by the opportunity to finally see them clash. No need to discredit either man, even Conor himself isn't talking trash ATM!

Good luck to both of em and may the best man win!

Eddie never really had a chance to implement his game plan, he opened up and landed some little inside leg kicks and was feinting a lot until he got dropped in the first minute.

Eddie was hurt bad and never really was able to recover from that first knock down, it’s almost a bit injustice to Conor’s performance to say that Eddie was just there to take a dive, Conor’s range and sniper shot left hand simply outclassed EA.

Yup, Conor beat the game plan out of him, lol.

Also, people often act like Eddie didn't try to rassle Conor while he clearly did but wasn't successful.

Eddie’s knees were weak and arms were heavy, on the surface he did not look calm or ready.

He made mistakes, but what the fuck are you talking about??? You make it sound like almost any LW in the UFC could get full mount on a top 5 ranked LW contender, who has only lost 1 fight in 4 years, and has beat 2 ex UFC Champions in his last 3 fights!!

Conor beat Eddie like he stole sumn.

To Eddie’s credit his heart never faltered he kept trying, he simply was just outmatched and wasn’t ready.

Eddie is a FAR better win than Al.

Wtf

Helax young man, you can get your point across without the aggressiveness like an adult and debate the topic at hand with some class.
