Is Dustin Poirier considered elite? And can he make some waves at 155?

Well i always liked poirier as a fighter, and he is often considered as Mcgregors best win. I think he is a very solid fighter with good technique and work ethic. But when i looked at his record i saw that he always loses to the top guys. And he seems a bit chinny.

I consider a very green Holloway is hist best win, besides that he has beaten the likes of Brandao, Koch, Corassani and Brookins.

So with that said, do you think Poirier can make it into the top 10 at 155?

Edit: What do you guys think is his biggest win then?

if by waves, you mean waves in a pool of blood as his faces bounce of the canvas, then yes, he can make waves.

Not a chance in hell he makes top10 at LW. Way way to chinny imo

No. He has bad defence and a bad chin which is a horrible combination and while the rest of his game is ok it isn't nearly good enough to cover those massive flaws.

I can't see it. It will be interesting to see if he changes his style at all because he has had his bell rung the past few fights. Hopefully he is given a favourable match up in his first fight at 155

I'd pick everyone in the top 15 to beat him, with many getting the KO. I think there's probably many outside the top 15 who would beat him too. Fighters like Danny Castillo and Al Iaquinta come to mind. I think chin will likely be an issue.

It feels very similar to when Erik Koch went up to Lightweight after losing at Featherweight. They have similar styles, and obviously they fought each other.

Contrary to popular belief, the brain is capable of recovering.

So there is a chance... top 10 at LW is pretty stacked, but not a whole ton of power punchers

Not elite, but rising...

Hes too small to make a difference in a much tougher division. Hes no Frankie

I considered him amongst the elite FWs for a bit. His losses to KZ, Cub, and now McGregor have changed that.

A move to 155 might not be bad. Some extra bulk will help his style.

Poirier is obviously not elite but he's definitely top 10 at feather....lets see how he does at 155.

Who knows. Rumble went up in weight and is about to fight for a title. Lets see if a less brutal weight cut will help his performance.

He'll be a nobody at Lightweight. He will lose and lose badly. He should have stayed at Featherweight where he can be a top ten guy and make $$$

I hope he does well but i really dont see him being anywhere near the top 10

He's fighting Carlos Diego Ferreira who is not that large, but he is extremely talented. Poirer will be a big underdog.

He needs to add some muscle I think he would get physically overpowered at 155.
