I'll be attending EDC this year. Unfortunately, hotel rates skyrocket that weekend. I recently cancelled my 3 night stay at Bally's. I couldn't swallow the fact that I was dropping $500+ for Bally's. I've stayed at the Wynn for around that much. The cheapest I've found on the strip is around $150/night. And we are talking about Stratosphere, Bally's, The Quad, Circus Circus.

I've been thinking about staying in downtown. I'm finding decent reviews for hotels under $100/night. But I've heard a lot of stories that downtown is ghetto, dangerous, etc. Staying in downtown would benefit me the most, I'll be closer to the event location, save money and quite honestly I really just need a place to recover with a quick nap. I really won't have anytime to hangout and enjoy the strip.

It ain't bad, been to vegas multiple times, and I was living on the Northside with my brother and its pretty fucking Ghetto over there, Downtown is pretty tame. To me anyways

Fuck no! Downtown Vegas is money!

Everytime I go to Vegas, I always hit up Fremont for a day/night. Plenty of good times to be had there.

Don't forget to check out the beautiful ladies at the Glitter Gulch, aka stripper hospice.

Seriously though, Downtown Vegas is very fun. Definitely check it out if you can.

Lived in Vegas for 16 years. Downtown Vegas is perfectly fine. As heavyarms said, North Las Vegas is the "dangerous" part and if you're from a big city even that won't bother you.

I would have to think that certain people would find it to be very accommodating.

Take, crack heads, for example

I'm in Vegas too...downtown isn't bad like it used to be. I was down there a couple weeks ago & had a great time.

I like downtown -it's got a charm and feel the rest of Vegas lacks.

North Las Vegas is bad. Don't hang around the Greyhound Station at night.

It's alright. Stay at 4 Queens and take the Deuce/SDX to the Strip.

I was there in September and I stayed aware of my surroundings in the later hours when things died out. It's still pretty safe but it has a different feel from the strip where fights could erupt out of nowhere.

I like Stratosphere and Circus Circus. I stayed at Circus Circus a lot when I was a kid, and always had fun at the Midway.

Downtown is cool. I've always enjoyed the Fremont Street Experience. The California seems to be the favorite of the Hawaiians. I like it there, and they often have good rates. I've never felt unsafe walking around there. Last time I remember, there were a good number of police officers on bikes.

Along the strip, there seems to be more and more Latino dudes littering the place with those girly, hooker ads every time I go.

Got a cab down there once and spent an hour, not bothered since. The casinos seemed really smokey compared to The Strip. Not for me.

I stayed at the Stratosphere recently. Love that end of downtown. The rest, not so much. Sad to see the Sahara gone, but still have the Riviera to bask in.

Went to downtown in January for the second time. If you take a cab to and from the strip it's pretty much $25 each way (which sucks). Don't go to Insert Coins it's a sausage fest.

That's why you take the Deuce, it's only a couple of bucks.
