In fact, thay are just increasing the chances of fighters getting injured and then pulling out of important fights.

Perhaps Conor was also so successful till now because he didn't have exhausting camp trainings besides fooling around with Lobov and touchbutting with his coach.

Diaz is proof that 'high school triathlete' is now the best base for MMA.

It depends. Diaz stays healthy all year long.

It is better for your body to stay in some sort of good shape all year round, instead of busting your ass for 2 months after 10 months of doing nothing and ballooning.

Full camps are not necessary, there have been fighters on short notice who win, for example Jon Jones. But it is always an advantage to be at your peak conditioning + prep than not be, obviously.

outside factors matter to, full camp for johnny hendricks for example is a lot more significant than Diaz bros who stay healthy.

It's proof that styles make fights, Nate just has a style that's tailor made to beat Conor.

No, like he said, he would have not even gotten hit if he had a camp.

If everything else is equal, the 'full camp' has the advantage. No brainer.

It's not proof, but there not...

Absolutely

Jones will have trained 10 months for cormier and will still not know how to have thrown a punch

Nate is never not training. Diaz is proof that it is good to stay in shape all year long to be ready for big opportunities.

No. There is a reason fight camps have been around since almost the beginning of organized combat.

Not proof, the lack of a camp was obvious, the only reason he stayed in the fight was because he's a veteran who knows how to manage his body while Conor was an overzealous FW rookie who does not.

Is this the first time a short camp fighter won a short notice fight? Are you new?

Don't let Chad Mendes's EXCUSE trick you into thinking all short camp fighters will lose. This isn't the first time a no camp fighter won on short notice and certainly won't be the last. Watch more fights.

Not necessarily, but last night's win speaks volumes for Nate's warrior spirit!

A good balance would be a fight camp with minimal sparring.

not at all, i hope people don't draw that conclusion from this fight.

diaz won despite the short camp because
- his chin is insane
- he wasn't facing a wrestler who would tire him out quickly
- he had the game to handle conor's game

but more often than not, a full camp is essential for success.

No if Diaz had a full camp he would have walked through him

It's proof that Conor now realizes weight classes are a real thing. I admire his willingness, but his belief was overblown. I'm not talking about WW, I'm talking about LW. He cuts weight to have the advantage. It's not the same when he doesn't have it, even against a tough LW with a short camp.

Yes, because one counterexample and exception destroys the rule. Come on.
