Is Daniel Cormier's hype warranted?

Daniel carries alot of fat around the waistline. Im not sure what he weighs normally. Better stop eating those burgers and fries son. There is no way he rag dolls Jones

about time daniel is slim for light heavyweights Jones will be moving up to heavy weight

It is absurd to claim any champion or even top ten fighter will get ragdolled by anyone at the same weight (obviously a HW would toss around a much lighter fighter). But DC is very talented and powerful. IF he could get his hands on Jones he could do damage.

It will be interesting but Daniel will not Ragdoll Jones sorry haters. cormier is the shortest competitor for Jones with the shortest reach he's ever faced with at best equivalent wrestling to Jones. If Jones can't get him down and elbow him to incapacity then he will get a UD through a stand up tutorial like in Jones vs Evans

Are you serious? You shouldn't be. Madness. Comparing Jones to Cormier in wrestling is like comparing Joe Lauzon to Roger Gracie in BJJ.

Cormier lifted up and slammed a 250lbs+ Josh Barnett. If you think he will be unable to do the same to Jon Jones you don't understand anything.

The "hype" is 100% warranted.

Provided that he isn't too depleted from a diet adjustment & weightcut to 205 (which is a big if for Daniel considering his past weight troubles in the Olympics with acute renal failure), he'd be an absolute nightmare at LHW as someone who will not simply sit on the outside and get picked apart by Jon Jones' superior reach. He closes the distance better than anyone not named GSP or Weidman in MMA (although DC's wrestling is better, their transitions from striking -> TDs are more seamless IMO) and once he has a hold of you, you're getting taken down.

With all the question marks surrounding the cut & adjustment to 205, Jon Jones would be the justifiable favourite but the Black Fedor would be a very, very real threat to his title.

Undefeated Olypmic medalist in wrestling with dynamic speed, strength, and cardio, with incredible knockout power and a good chin.

No he sucks.

Who gives a fuck?

People are excited about seeing someone fight. This is not a problem. stfu about hype Sherdog.

Even Dana admitted at last fight's post fight presser that a win over Josh Barnett means something. Yes, his hype is warranted.

It's not just that. Others have come into MMA with great qualifications and failed. But when you destroy Bigfoot in the 1st round (after BF beat Fedor/Arlovski and had his own hype train) then dominate Barnett for 5 rounds, you've proven yourself.

Honestly, if you question Cormier, you have to question Overeem as well. Both have only had two quality HW wins in the last few years. One of Overeem's was a bizarre spectacle (Werdum) while the other was against a sick/declining fighter (Brock).

I'm not questioning Overeem's abilities, BTW, just pointing out that his recent accomplishments are no more impressive than Cormier's.

Ive been saying he will be the future champ ever since he ran thru Bigfoot

I like Cormier. He gets the job done, keeps his head down, and is a solid athlete

I thought Barnett looked utterly horrific in their fight. Just absolutely terrible.

However, those two wins are big...and he will do some damage in the UFC

I don't know about a title, but isnt he still young?

More than his reach, Jones has owned everyone by being able to manhandle everyone. He will not be doing that against Cormier. That alone makes it one of the few interesting challenges left for Jones.

Jones would take him to round 3 or 4 and finish him the same way he's done a few other great fighters. In fact, at 205, I don't think Cormier would have enough explosiveness to threaten Jones. He would be walking dead. Jones would win easily after two or three failed takedowns by Cormier. If they trained together and Cormier was healthy and at his normal weight (which is quite clearly at least 235 pounds), then of course Cormier could take him down because he is a great wrestler.

But at 205, after cutting weight like that at his age, his performance would suffer.
