I know this sounds retarded, as he is a heavyweight.
But with only a 72 inch reach (13 inch difference, most since Rampage), and 5 inch height difference, would Daniel ever really be able to get inside on Jones?
He did a great job against Gus, despite not getting his wrestling off, but they are very close in size, and Gus proved he is game.
With losing weight, and probably not "cutting" much weight before the fight because of his kidney issues, you've got to think this might be the biggest size advantage Jones would have INCLUDING Chael and Vitor.
I'm not saying Cormier should be a middleweight, but if he can't cut and regain the weight for 205 on fight night, he will probably walk in at a 15 pound weight disadvantage to go with his other disadvantages.

Call me crazy, but I think Gus, Davis and Glover would be closer in size then Cormier come fight night ; and I think they would all (in Gus' case has) do better against the champion.

Cormier will have Jones on his back anytime he wants.

Like he was too small for Bigfoot? I know, Bigfoot doesn't use his reach and size like Jones, but you'll get it.

Size is not everything, clearly Gus showed you can take Jones down and Comier is 10x the wrestler Gus is.

Again its a fight so anything can happen.

I think what TS might be missing is that Cormier's strategy vs Jones will likely not require much reach at all. Press against cage, put on back etc... Not saying he'd take it, just that he's unlikely to stay outside for long.

TS, if your point is that size matters which is why Gus was successful, we already know Cormier is proven against size. He dominates at HW.

So is Gus a better wrestler than Rashad, Bader, Sonnen ... or was it his size?

Chael fight wasnt even a big weight difference, Machida and Vitor were bigger.
He(Daniel) can only cut 10lbs now so he can be 215lbs max, so he would be smaller.
but on the other hand he whooped Bigfoot, And Bigfoot is a giant.

Until Cormier actually makes the drop to 205 and has an impresive win there all this talk of a fight with Jones is fucking stupid. Im not very impressed with Cormier at all. I found the win over Barnett impresive cuz Josh is a savage but since then his performances have been VERY un-impressive

Dude, he literally picked up and slammed 255lb 6'4" Josh Barnett, who is an experienced catch wrestler himself. He's also never been taken down.

He also KO'd 82" reach Bigfoot, who hits much harder than Jones, in round 1, easily.

Jones will be put on his back. Cormier is a legit threat.

Technique certainly plays a role absolutely. My point was that size was not the reason Gus was able to take him down. Add to that did Rashad even attempt to take him down? Maybe a few select times, same with Bader he was unconscious before he had the chance.

Not since Cormier is the better wrestler. He'd take Jones down.

Exactly. This is why short fighters never win.

Yea, a lot of Gus' takedown caught Jon Jones of guard as well as Gus catching Jon's leg. People always talk about how the threat of a takedown can open up an opponent for strikes. The same goes for strikes, they can open you up to be taken down. But there is no doubt that Gus' wrestling has improved, especially his TDD.

    Like he was too small for Bigfoot (6ft4 82in), Barnett (6ft3 78in) and Mir (6ft3 79in) ?
