Daniel Cormier and Chuck Liddell

Patient Stand Up game based on counters

Great wrestling tdd with a threat of getting hurt for rushing in.

Agree? Disagree? Why?

I would say if anyone is emulating a prime Liddell it's Junior Dos Santos. No one can take the guy down and when he lands he knocks people out.

No, Daniel Cormier is a lot better, with a completely different style.

What was the last Chuck Liddell comparison? I'm trying to remember if it was as bad as this..

There is no new Chuck Liddell
It's not Junior, it's not Gus, and it's certainly not DC

I actually thought DC was like Cain V. in most ways. Quick for a HW, decent striking with keys in the wrestling game.

No, because Cormier is an Olympic wrestler and he actually effectively uses offensive wrestling in his fights.

The JDS comparison I can see, though Chuck was much more unorthodox and used kicks more than JDS. The Cormier comparison makes no sense though IMO, Cormier has much better wrestling, and is able to use it offensively, not just defensively as Chuck primarily did.

I disagree. Chuck mostly went out head hunting at first, not saying he was inpatient but a lot of times he was a little a slow starter and in same cases got caught before he really started to use his technique to his advantage.

DC is a lot like Cain, but I think DC doesn't depend on his wrestling as much as Cain does. DC uses it more as a defense than Cain uses it more as a offense

You don't think Cormier uses his wrestling base more as a defense then an offense? You don't think he could have grinded out g n p wins in all of his fights if he he felt like attacking on the ground, rather than standing?

via fight metric

Chuck Liddell had
TD Acc. 75%
TD Def. 81%

You could argue DC has better wrestling over all BUT I think the Ice Man could have used his wrestling, which was virtually unseen because of how good it was, for offensive reasons, I just think he preferred to keep it standing much like DC prefers the fight keep standing unless he wants it to go to the ground, which I think Chuck would have no problem of getting any of his fights to the ground if he wanted.
