Seriously, are people more inclined to buy the PPV with Cyborg headlining it than Frankie Edgar?

She is the incredibly proven WMMA GOAT with an unbelievably deep resume. ;)

But in all seriousness, she probably is more of an attraction to non-hardcore MMA fans than Frankie.

Last time Frankie headlined a PPV was five years and nine days ago.

I don't think so.

With all due respect how many people will buy a PPV solely due to her fighting, especially so when fighting someone she is expected to beat ?

She could sell some decent PPVs in the right fight (the Ronda fight that never materialized for example) maybe even the Nunes fight could sell okay (neither of them are big needle movers but together in a champ vs champ fight ya' never know).

It's a bit crazy how many times this thread has been made.
I guess this is a really important question.

Yes they are. She's historically a bigger name and her google searches back this up. Edgar is a bigger name in NJ and when he had the title years ago....Cyborg is a bigger name name overall. She's been associated with Rousey for a while and just had a big fight with Holm. Most importantly shes a champ and Frankie is not.

Did Ortega say he would do a five rounder? If not he may have wanted a 3 rounder leaving the UFC without a main event.

Against holly or someone ppl know maybe. Against an unknown no, not at all....except if she fought an unknown man, that would be one of the highest grossing ever, would get so much media attention, casuals love freak show fights

Actually, yes. Cyborg would draw more than Frankie. 219 sold some 340k-380k PPV buys, and the only fight that would make people buy on that card was Cyborg vs Holly. We may love Khabib but he's hardly a ppv draw.

Frankie hasn't headlined a PPV in five years since he fought Aldo the first time, and it did 330k buys when buys were doing well.

Yes, she's a draw. Always has been. Despite what her insecure haters have to say about it. The UFC created a division with 3 people in it just to wrap a belt around her and justify her headlining. She was headlining before she even had a weight class. The UFC wouldn't give her literally everything she's demanded if she wasn't.

not by me.

i refuse to buy any card she is on regardless whom else is on the card.

She's a mini-draw by current UFC standards but she isn't an actual needle mover.

The question to me is....Is the UFC gonna market her as another dominating woman....that beats every talented female fighter she faces due to her overwhelming skill.

Or will they market her as a female monster that can crush cans with knowingly less talent for a show?

I dont think she will ever be a draw outside of Brazil. She has been on top since 2009-10 her status is still the same. Once branded as a roid user some fans cant get past it.

This card will fail miserably in the PPV department.

Hopefully with the new TV deal WME seriously reconsiders 12 or so PPV's a year and dips that down to maybe 5 or 6 and give us much better events on FOX and FS1 or whatever channel they end up on.

I think its fair to say her drawing power is rising. While Edgars has plateaued unless he gets a very big win.
