The disrespect this man gets is insane, yeah he has some losses but he has a very good resume, even at 155lbs for taking out the champ with extreme ease. If humbler men accomplished these tasks they would be universally loved.

Underrated af by the haters and there are a lot of haters. "Can only beat midgets. Weight bully. Avoiding wrestlers. Dustin threw the fight. Full camp Mendes. Lucky punch. Beaten up by a lw journeyman. Lost when he fought somebody his own size. Cowboy fight was fixed" that's just a few examples of the dumb shit the haters have said over the years. Now if you want to hate on him for tapping or stuff he does outside of the octagon then go ahead.

The fact is he was actually very good, still is but maybe not quite the same. The composure he had was nuts. The way he picked his shots after hurting guys during his run at 145 was pretty crazy. 99.9% of fighters are either too hesitant or too aggressive when they get somebody hurt but Conor was as composed and calculated as it gets.

I remember during his first few fights in the ufc people were all over him! Then once he was the champ he was "overrated" etc....

Standard Sherdog!
I just think part and parcel of being the biggest star and in the spot light all the time is that you will have most lovers and haters, same with Lebron, same with Ronaldo, etc etc.. Just via the numbers of people aware of you.

The most underrated is just ridiculous. He’s a .333 fighter at LW.

The reality is his best wins aren't that highly looked upon.

1. Eddie is largely considered one of the most overrated champions we've had, he split decisioned his way to a title and won a fight against RDA where he looked inferior and on his way to getting outclassed until landing a big punch on RDA, who had a terrible weight cut going in. He then had his one chance to show fans that he was a legit PFP fighter and absolutely wet the bed against Conor in the biggest fight of his life, not even registering a single title defense.

2. Chad Mendez took the fight on short notice without being in fight shape, still a very good win but it's not the same when your opponent wasn't actually in a full camp preparing to fight. In an already highly competitive fight, it's very thought provoking to think what would've happened if Chad had a full camp to prepare, as he landed huge punches on the sturdy chin of Conor and controlled him rather easily without one.

3. The Jose Aldo win was so fast and such a low percentage outcome that the win came with warranted skepticism, which was largely proved fair when he was stopped by Nate Diaz his very next fight.

He's a very good fighter that benefited a lot from UFC management, it's just undeniable. Never at any point was he able to stay on top for long, he was clearly able to avoid some tough matchups like Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar on his way up. Ultimately he just didn't stay around long enough to cement himself as an actual all time great fighter, that's just the truth.

If you can KO Aldo in 13 seconds your obviously a very very talented fighter, but most people agree he's not in the conversation as a legit all time great.

Anything can happen in MMA with such small gloves, that's why rematches and title defenses are so important. Holding your crown at the top is vastly more difficult than winning one or two championship level fights and then not being able to sustain your success. We saw this with the Cain v JDS fights, just because you won a short fight by KO doesn't mean the other fighter couldn't absolutely dominate you once he notices your weaknesses and exploits them.

Dustin vs Conor 1, Dustin landed 52% of his strikes and 87% of his leg kicks. Conor landed 31% of his overall strikes and was outlanded 10 to 9 by Dustin. Conor managed to setup a beautiful hook that landed behind the ear of Dustin that rendered him unable to defend himself and that was that, although a keen eye could see that Conor was struggling with the southpaw and really didn't have much answer for the left strait or leg kicks from Dustin. He was hit quite easily and couldn't find much offense until the KO.

Dustin vs Conor 2, Dustin once again landed 52% of his strikes and about 85% of his leg kicks, nearly replicating his success of the first fight. Conor once again couldn't keep Dustin from landing. This time Conor wasn't able to find the early KO and despite arguably winning round 1, was largely outclassed and finished within 2 rounds.

Dustin vs Conor 3? This "underrated" fighter once again gets an opportunity to show he's world class, coming off a loss where his "elite striking" had many clear deficiencies that were easily exploited by Dustin in route to a finish. His legacy is still being written as a fighter, and he's fought so infrequently that each fight tells us more about him. We'll see how "underrated" he is in a few weeks.

This guy really said he's going to be the GOAT by the end of his career after beating up on the ghost of Donald Cerrone, a Donald Cerrone who didn't even attempt to throw a single punch back to defend himself. A Donald Cerrone who is currently riding a 0-5-1 streak in his last 6. Total delusion, then he predictably gets slept his very next fight.

If anyone believes that Conor is in the same vicinity of greatness that Anderson sits, then yea he's massively overrated. The Aldo win single handedly allows him to be in the conversation with other tier 3-4 greats, but since then he's gone 3-3, with wins over Diaz, Cowboy, and Alverez. It's not the most impressive resume in the world, especially if your educated on what was occurring at the time.

Hard to say a double champ is overrated, but he’s overrated.

Gifted title shots, never defends, wilts under pressure, struggles against non-manlets.

That’s his fault and his fault alone. No one ever, in the history of combat sports, has ever talked as much smack and deified themselves as much as him. So his resume In totality, and especially of late, pails in comparisons to the claims he made incessantly

He doesnt fight like he did when he was at his best anymore...but he's still fast and dangerous...but more predictable i would say.
