Floyd needed to put on a show for they paying public and the conor fight was much more high profile - conor's size would have maybe allowed him to reach round 2 if floyd was not fucking around. But floyd had to make sure he gave the illusion of danger so that when he decides to milk mma fans again they'll buy in.

Ironically, Khabib is closer to being the Mayweather of MMA. If he keeps going the way he is going, he is going to amass a fortune.

Mayweather didn't generate a million dollar fight until his 25th fight, and didn't start making mega millions until his 38th fight against De La Hoya.

So there is a correlation between winning streak and wealth accumulation that Conor simply cannot replicate. Conor had a mega million dollar fight, and at this point it looks like it will be the only one of his career.
