Man had a bunch of wins, got a Interim Title Shot against RDA, won, and then tried to play the wait game and the UFC was like "fuck that", and booked Usman v Woodley, in which Usman had the same wins as Colby but he did it after.
Then he had to fight Lawler again, with no title on the line to get a TS.
After he got finished by Usman, he defeated Woodley on a 2 fight skid, thought he deserved either a Title Shot or a money fight against Masvidal, and after Usman called out Masvidal he pretty much lost both.
He had the chance to make a case for himself fighting Leon who is #3, but refused it, so Leon will probably leapfrog him after that win, leaving room for even Thompson or Khamzat(Depending when he comes back) jump the line before him.

Well Usman's not helping him out by calling out Masvidal. Bet Colby didn't expect that.

He doesn't seem too bright but im cool with it since he is a fighter first. Who manages him?

Certainly working better for him than Cejudo's negotiation tactics
Cejudo failed with one negotiation, but before he was already a double champ, and got the BW Title Shot with 0 fights in the division, he also had more leverage to try to get more money, even though he didn't.
Colby's just acting entitled because he talks shit and won a round or two against Usman before getting finished

Up there, hed have beat Woodley but decided to sit out twice as interim only to watch Usman take the belt.

Now hes sitting out on paydays and in his prime because he believes hes bigger than he is.

Colby's negotiations haven't held him back though, he's still being offered big fights. Henry's seem to have ended his career.

No, covington eventually fought for the title.

Ferguson never fought for the REAL title, got offered a 2nd interim title shot against Holloway and TURNED IT DOWN under the "champ shit only" excuse. Yeah he thought his wife was a vampire, but he is on record claiming he's already done the interim thing and he deserves better now (even though he wasn't a draw). Then Poirier fights holloway and wins, and gets the title shot against nurmagomedov. ferguson stops seeing vampires and in true "champ shit only" philosophy, takes a fight against cerrone - a fight with NOTHING on the line. He THEN takes a much harder interim fight (not below you anymore, huh tony?) against Gaethje and gets FUCKING WRECKED (life changing). Talks on social media like he could've won, then gets DOMINATED by Oliveira and talks again like he was the better fighter. He has to have the shittiest out-of-the-octagon fight IQ of all time for such a talented fighter. That fight IQ leads him to be a much worse negotiator than covington.

The guy is a legit fighter for sure but I feel like he overvalues his "brand" way too much. He can hold out all he wants, nobody is dying to see him fight.

That's a good point, the retirement thingy really bit Cejudo in the ass, but at least Cejudo is getting called out by Figgy and Yan, which means if he returns will be straight up a good title fight. Colby's still only getting the attention of Chiesas

Colby’s negotiations are ass and so is he.

Which boggles my mind, because he's not a good draw, don't have a belt to hold hostage and is not a flashy exciting style. So he has little to no leverage to make such demands

He's deffo bad, but to his point, he had 3 title fights with Khabib that fell trough due to injuries, so it's more a matter of luck

Colbie’s IQ is just a notch above the Till, Perry level. He should thank his lucky stars for being good at human cockfighting.

Not all 3 were for titles were they? You are 100% right he's had some bad luck. However, hindsight being 2020, it is VERY LIKELY he would've lost any of those 3 fights to nurmagomedov which would've derailed his win streak and consequently his path to a title.

Eddie Alvarez didn't renegotiate his contract for the Conor fight and ended up fighting him for like $50k. Not sure of the actual numbers but it wasn't a bright move.
