I got into a major fight with the wife over this.
 
They make it in pastry kitchens so id say yes
 
Send pics of you and your wife fighting while involving said cheesecake plz.
 
Pastries contain sweetened and baked dough. Cheesecakes usually don't involve baking.

However, a pastry chef would definitely be in charge of making cheesecakes in most restaurants.

No. Where is the pastry? The bottom layer is biscuits.
 
It's a custard. Sometimes the bottom layer is made with pastry dough though.
