Is Bellator on the rise?

lol
What are these stupid retarded P4P rankings supposed to prove? That UFC's legitimacy and matchmaking and rankings are shit and nothing is based on actual merit or records?

Comparing to glorious Bellator matchmaking...

And if you think that W-L ratio tells something about a fighter in MMA, you're ignorant. And Michael Page fan. Which is the same.

I thought they were on the rise some years ago to overtake in the long run. They had superrxciting fights and talent at lw and fw but imo Cooker made a big big mistake. Instead of using his clown fights to market the real talent to built up legitimacy He purely focuses on Freakshow fights.

Its sad to tell but imo Cooker has to go. He just deals it in. I even miss Rebney which says something

Just a freakshow people will look but most won't really talk about it. Ufc has a better feel to it

Coker has vision. Their fights are usually entertaining regardless of name value. Lot of good prospects as well as established fighters. The WW GP is more promising than anything UFC has to offer.

Nope. The promotion is built on freakshow fights and UFC cast-offs. And on top of that, they don't give a shit if anyone can see their show live on tv/online.

Are you talking about Bellator of today or Strikeforce circa 2010?

I love how people speculate about the success of organizations, without using any rating or financial numbers.

Bellator doesn't even air in France anymore, I literally have no legal option to watch their cards. I'm pretty doubtful about their rise if they lose their grip on foreign markets.

Honestly its getting to where the upcoming Bellator cards are way more exciting than ufc.

Scott Coker you god damn genius

I only watch Bellator for Heather Hardy.

Bellator is over paying ex UFC fighters, and severly underpaying their actual talent base, which is somehow okay for Bellator, but UFC is the devil when they supposedly underpay fighters. Weird.

By next year the UFC forum on Sherdog will be dead.

Everyone will be in the Bellator section and the mods will start putting UFC fightnight PBP threads in the Bellator section just so people will see it.

Its nowhere near as close as some are making out, UFC is still beasting Bellator in all regards. BUT Bellator are making improvements & slowly becoming actual competition especially if you consider how stagnant UFC PPV sales have been this year without those elite names that bring in the high numbers.

You can argue about the quality of the fighters in the Heavyweight tournament (and that several are actually lightheavys) but it has attracted attention, fans like tournaments. They are signing guys who are recognisable names from the UFC but still top level fighters like Rory & Gegard. Most importantly fighters that don't like how Dana runs things at least now have a viable option & it appears they are being treated better & being paid well, when those UFC contracts come up stasying in the Octagon may no longer be the formality it used to be.

UFC hate makes people blind.
Everybody talking ybout Rory beating Woodley as if he wasn't beat himself by 3 UFC fighters....

Bellator isn't able to put on fights like Romero-Whitaker, Khabib-Tony, Max-Ortega etc.
Closest would be Rory-Mousasi, but that isn't on the same level imo...

They got some good UFC level fighters though.

Strikeforce was the closest to a viable contender to the UFC and they still weren't viable enough to stave off a takeover. Coker seems to know how to run a promotion nominally but I'm not sure he's some kind of genius.

Bellator has (rightfully) accepted its position as second-banana freakshow league. I'm cool with that remaining their wheelhouse.

Bellator doesnt feel that fake like UFC with those fake title fights, nuthugging McGregor and so on but Bellator is a place for almost retired UFC fighters in their 40s.

If Bellator keeps offering big money and better deals than the UFC to old washed up fighters on the verge of retirement, I can see them going broke in the future.

I hope it can grow to be a legitimate competitor, but then I think back to Strikeforce, how strong its roster was and how they put out a lot of cards that were more stacked than most modern day UFC cards, and STILL failed to gain any real traction. So i'm not too optimistic.

Bellator lost money in 2017 & grossed 1/35 of what UFC did
They are not even in the conversation

Just be happy that they have a distribution deal announced Tuesday that might put them in the black.
Enjoy the cards (I like Bellators presentation) but they are nowhere near UFC as a business.

Only on SD would a company that loses money be "on the rise", while a company that had record profits & just signed a huge TV deal is "dying".

7 out of 9 events this year have done under 500k viewers, on Sherdog that means Bellator is on the rise and taking over.

Even the most optimistic fan cannot think Bellator will over-take UFC after the news that 7 events will now be behind a paywall only
