Say In the past 45 years or so? He can't do much with his accent and his look/frame besides do the common roles he's been doing since the 80s. Don't get me wrong he is great in what he does and he's super successful for it.

Any other big time movies star actor as limited or more limited as him?

The only guy I can think of, but is from the the old days of movie making is John Wayne.

Claude Van Damme comes to mind about a male action actor with a foreign accent, that is rarely heard about anymore.

Hollywood lagely went away from male action hero after the 90s. Instead female action stars replaced them in movies.

Outside of some of the 80s B movie actors... I'd put his acting chops far ahead of Steven Seagal and more versatile than Jean Claude Van Damme.

Does not qualify as legendary by any stretch of the imagination but Steven Seagal is even worse.

Wow... we were all thinking along the same lines

Schwarzenegger has had his moments as an actor. He did good work in Terminator 1 and 2 and he was actually good in Genisys despite it being a shit movie. His acting was quite good in Sabotage despite it being a mediocre movie.

Van Damme mentioned above also improved his acting quite a bit in the mid 2000s. The movie JCVD for example. His acting was solid in Universal Soldier: Regeneration and Expendables 2.

Anyway, John Wayne is a good example of going a long way with limited range...emotionally and in terms of characters, but even he had his moments and he also didn't have the benefit of coming after the Brando revolution or the Pacino / De Niro / Hoffman wave in the 70s.

Seagal is worse as an actor than any of them by a fair margin and had a big career.

Not sure exactly what the bar is here to be legendary though.

There are some actors who are definitely competent but have a ceiling on what they can do authentically... Charlie Sheen for example.

Sylvester Stallone has done very well playing the same character in many movies/TV show.

Those are worthy notable names indeed.

We still have The Rock I guess.

BTW.. I have been binging a YT channel that was basically made to trash Seagal and praise JCVD. It's stupidly entertaning:

Yeah.. but his character is at least believable. He does the same character in every movie now but he does it pretty well.

Another guy that has been doing the same character over and over is Jason Stathman... but he is definitely a better actor.

I think Statham has a higher floor but a lower ceiling.

I can think of at least five movies where Stallone wouldn't have been out of place with an Oscar nomination for acting.

I can't think of one for Statham and I doubt there ever will be one.
