LMAO no she didn't. She just drove down when we all heard to take publicity shotsOh no wait, she brought to light at a national level that Border Patrol is letting children die in cages lmao.
You make some good points and I can see her appeal to the demographic she represents. I’m personally conflicted in my opinions on a lot of things including health care insurance, it depends on if I’m feeling practical, or emotional.
FWIW, my way of life is extremely unorthodox, pretty fucking amazing, and probably not at all what you’d imagine it to be.

Ah nah dude I ain't trying to say nothing bad about you in particular. I've just spent my night working on this dumb fucking novel so I'm waxing all poetic and shit.
I too think AOC is a bit naive, she's young and idealistic, BUT in the last few months she's actually impressed me a lot. She also supports a lot of ideas that are net positives for everyone regardless of party lines.
Also as a dude who lives a hella unorthodox life. Keep killing it bro.
What's her appeal? I find her average looking. I guess when 50% of women are fat in the USA it isn't that difficult to be attractive to most men.
If I’m honest I’ll admit I haven’t paid attention to a single word she’s said in the past few months so I wouldn’t know if she’s matured any since she’s had some seat time.
On topic though- she’s definitely cancer to the Democrat party in the sense that her radical virtue signaling is going to push the moderates towards the right, which is exactly why Trump wants her to get as much screen time as possible. She’s gold for the GOP.
Off topic- I’ve definitely got an anarchistic, socialist, idealistic voice in the back of my head that would instantly slam a hypothetical button that would take the world’s wealth, and divide it equally amongst the population (one time) even though it would absolutely affect me to the negative.
I know the consensus amongst economists is that within 5 years, most of the poor people would be poor again, and most of the rich people would be rich again, but It’d be fun to find out who the real Gs are, and who are the wankers who are only where they’re at because of the head start they got in life. Personally I carved out a nice little niche for myself despite coming from a single parent household with absolutely zero financial artillery behind me, so I think I’d do even better with the wings clipped from the elite.
The logical side of me knows that’s the pipiest of pipe dreams though, so the game needs to be played within the parameters of possibility. Some people are going to be rich as hell, and for that to happen a whole lot more are going to be poor. So that means that the people like AOC who want to open the floodgates of the third world to America for personal political gain, are going to sap the life out of the average person here, and not a damn thing is going to be taken from the elite , which now includes her.
Yeah fuck all that.
Not at the expense of people who had nothing to do with their powerlessness.
REP. ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ is prepared for the possibility that Democrats in New York could redraw her district after the 2020 election, she told The Intercept in an interview.
Following the 2020 census, every state will draw new district boundaries to reflect changes in the population, the political implications of which will stretch for at least the next decade. In 2014, New York approved a constitutional amendment establishing a nonpartisan redistricting commission, which is set to take over the redistricting process starting in 2020. The 10-member commission, meant to be independent from the legislature, is made up of individuals selected by leaders from the state Senate and Assembly, and the original eight members pick two additional members.
But Ocasio-Cortez’s most determined adversaries are not partisan Republicans, but Democrats who say that she has been a disruptive influence. The Hill recently reported that at least one member of Congress has been urging New York party leaders to recruit a Democratic primary challenger to Ocasio-Cortez. But the news led to a surge of donations to Ocasio-Cortez, suggesting that a more efficient means of ousting her might be simply to eliminate her district.

Some interesting political "inside baseball" going on here. It seems like neither the establishment Democrats nor the Republicans have a winning strategy against AOC and I don't see one coming anytime soon. With her wide name recognition, she could easily win any redrawn district they throw at her. And they also risk her going after Schumer's seat, which would be too close for comfort at best for them. It's probably best to let her be the queen of that district and hope she doesn't get too ambitious for the time being...
Yeah all of the reparations and "justices" will fall out of the sky.We get it... The right hates the GND for ideas and concepts not contained in the GND.
AOC is another Dem politician I find difficult to dislike, and/or afford a degree of respect to.
Her success story, and how she pulled off that upset against the incumbent candidate is impressive.
She is the embodiment of the "American dream". WOrk your ass off, make sacrifices you can accomplish great things.
That being said, I disagree with almost everything she stands for.
From my own personal experience this is absolutely false. I know personally plenty of people in their 20's and 30's who rip on her regularly and think she is a moron. Be it at work, the gym, or in my own social circles I see more people who dislike her than like her. Hell even my online gaming has me running into younger people who rip on her.I think this is where our disagreement lies, She's gold for the GOP for people in their 70s watching some bow tied little bitch on Fox News edit videos of her . Thing is though, they're dying off daily.
She's a very skilled politician and a bright young woman whose policies and politics speak to the interests of her constituents and of her generation. There are a lot of centrist Democrats who still cling to centrist policy positions which they struggle to in good faith defend - unqualified support for Israel and apathy towards Palestinians, support for state and municipal corporate welfare, market-based healthcare reforms, continued hostility toward certain countries, relatively flat income taxation - that AOC has not only shrugged but faced head-on and opposed.
That she's a pretty person is not very relevant, and it's mostly obsessed over and insisted upon by the right. You can see this in any thread about her. The vast majority of "durr hurrr I wanna fuck her" posts are from conservative posters who are going to say that about any moderately attractive woman in politics.
I doubt she'll lose. She's far too famous now, especially for a race as small as a Congressional district. People will likely vote for her on name value alone. If it was a Statewide race or National race that would probably be a different story.
Really over the obsession with her from both sides of the aisle. I get it, she's decent looking. Reminds me of the Palin thing.

I think people in their 30s tend to. I certainly cringe at her a lot, but I cringe at most people her age but I'm just 31 and bitter about idealism in your youth.
The youth culture is clearly transitioning towards her policies. It's like Greta, Redneck dudes may put Greta death threats on their trucks but she's clearly a massive inspiration for her age group..
