1. How do you guys feel about the Purge movies in general?

2. How would you guys rate the first three Purge movies?

I want to find out the story of that freaky dude in the last movie that killed the senators family.

I like them, feel like they could've all been better. As for the prequel, I'm interested to see how it started but the trailer didn't seem all that better than any of the others but I wanna see it.

Oh...a movie.

I thought Trump was starting a new policy.

No, I'm not looking forward to it anymore.

after getting massively burned by the hype surrounding "Election Year" only to discover

- it wasn't a biting and dark satire of current events or politics
- the scariest costumed goons had all of 20 seconds of screen time before flopping to the ground dead
- the horrible acting (good lord the "candy girls")
-the lack of fully-fleshed out portraits of any of the purge baddies, psychopaths and alley-dwelling trap fiends who just sit around in their costumes repeatedly suggesting that a more interesting story happened to them at some point

I mean this

this was not good

great costumes and overall design though, for a better movie with better people in a better story

1. I only watched the first one. Thought it was an interesting concept that got wasted on a small story with dumb characters.

2. I guess I'd give the first film a 5. Left me with little interest to watch any sequels.

loved purge:anarchy but election year sort of made me not want to pay for another purge movie again that was a waste of money.

They totally dropped the ball and made this theme into a joke. Very disappointed with the purge movies

Loved the Purge Anarchy. Election Year was not that good.

I'd still want to see this prequel

I'm all for a new Purge spinoff for years to come. It's an interesting concept with unlimited stories to tell. That creepy patriotic vibe is really unique and makes for a great atmosphere

Only watched the first one

Won't lie.. was a guilty pleasure

1 and 3 were okay.

Part 2 was really really good and i wished i saw it in theater.

I'll check out this one if it has good reviews

People can at least take comfort in knowing the franchise has a good premise that can work in any number of settings filmed in any number of styles

So like the Saw franchise you have a chance at solid territory with different approaches or settings

Anything less would be like getting mad at an entire post-apocalyptic genre after watching a Mad Max you didn't like

I personally wish it took on a more Children of Men style of long tracking shots as people fight through elaborate set pieces.

It's not a hard production approach either and is incredibly cost-effective - (think spending all your most action-packed shooting days' budget on an Ed Edd and Eddy-esque treadmill device) it would be brilliant at referencing the chaotic setting without getting too bogged down in exposition for every civilian face on screen which seems to be the tactics of the latest close-up heavy face-hugging bullshit DP working the last one

Love the franchise. I liked the 2nd best than the 1st and the 3rd. Always wanted to throw a Purge theme costume party but unfortunatelly not many share my fondness of the movie.

Why don't people just go for a holiday on that day?

I love the Purge movies. Like someone else said there are pretty much unlimited stories to tell.
I'd love to see one that is more of a Vendetta movie with the good guy slaughtering bad people who wronged him
love to see some kind of story with two "armies" fighting for a small town, but have the cause of the war be something mundane like school districts

The price of out of country travel gets jacked up too high for anyone but the rich to afford.
This. Think how much airlines screw people just on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now imagine if you were trying to escape death

Then why don't they invest in a bomb shelter in their basement or just make their entire basement impenetrable with enough supplies to get through the night?

Not sure if this was addressed in the movie but this and the holiday thing were my first thoughts when reading about the movie premise.

Some do. The satire of the Purge is that it’s the governments way of killing off the “undesirables” of the poor who can’t afford to defend themselves.
