Is an interim title so the champ can fight in other divisions the most ridiculous thing by the UFC?

What is the most ridiculous thing the UFC has ever done?

For me it's having an interim fight between Edger and Aldo because the champ doesn't want to defend the belt and would rather fight in other weight classes. It's completely absurd.

So what are they supposed to do? Make a fight between Edgar and Aldo, and not for an interim belt? In that case they would make less money.

Would they force Conor to defend his belt at 145, and in that case miss a huge rematch against Nate?

I don't know how people can think this is why the interim belt has been made, it has been made so if McGregor can't make the cut back to 145lbs the interim champion can be promoted to undisputed.

Then wait until that actually happens, and then have this interim fight.

They take his belt away from him if he has no interest in defending it.

Champs going up weight classes should be reserved for long term dominant champs which Mcgregor is not, but I'm not even going to hate on it. But he had his shot and got worked! He should not be able to continue to fight without risking his title.

Dunno if it's the most ridiculous but this is pretty ridiculous in my book.

The most ridiculous thing the UFC has ever done...

Sign CM Punk.
The Reebok deal.
Cut Jon Fitch only to have Lorenzo reinstate him.
Induct Mask into the hall of fame.
Claim to be bigger than football in 10 years.
Remove Hulk Hogan from the Hall of Fame.
Allow Vitor to juice while fighting in Brazil by turning a blind eye.
Ban sherdog.
Fire Ariel Helwani.

I may have missed a load.

If he can't make the weight why should he be able to call him self champion?

Pretty sure people would pay more/more people would pay to see Conor vs Aldo 2. UFC has become a more brutal WWE in terms of promotion and marketing, but it's been going that direction from the beginning. Anyway war Diaz.

I suppose CM Punk and James Toney were more ridiculous

Don't really care, Conor is an exception to the rule. If it was become more common then it would be annoying, but it won't.

Most ridiculous thing is the constant lies then sweeping under the rug of said lies.

Making Dana White president is right up there.

I can't believe you're actually supporting this interim title bullshit.

No, this is.

it's one of the problems that comes with the promotion also holding control of the belts. Say what you will about boxing, but if you leave the division, you get stripped of your belts because you have to defend it, and that comes from promotions not holding control of who holds what belt and when/why. I don't mind the interim title on this fight, Mcgregor may well not come back to FW, but the fact that it's necessary is ridiculous

Aldo will pull out of the Frankie fight.
Frankie-Max Holloway at ufc 200.
Quote me on it when it happens
