International Iraqi parliament votes for government to work on plan to end US troop presence in Iraq

BREAKING NEWS: TRUMP PULLS TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ. LIBERALS FEAR THIS COULD CREATE SUPER ISIS, AND CONDEMN MOVE.

This is possible unfortunately.

THe progressives will at least give credit where credit is due.

"Thanks for all the help. We're good to go now. We've got this."

"Sorry, but that's not how freedom works."

I wish the right was as reluctant to pull back assistance and demand for self-sufficiency in domestic social policy as they are in foreign military policy.

Brilliant post.

Most Shiite members of parliament backed the resolution, the AP noted, adding that many Sunni and Kurdish legislators reportedly did not attend the special session and are believed to oppose the measure.

In a very Trumpian move, Trump is threatening Iraq with sanctions and said US will not leave unless payment is received.

President Donald Trump threatened Sunday to slap sanctions on Iraq after its parliament passed a resolution calling for the government to expel foreign troops from the country.

Tensions in the Middle East spiraled last week after Trump called for a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad that killed a top Iranian general, Qasem Soleimani.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, the U.S. president said: “If they do ask us to leave, if we don’t do it in a very friendly basis, we will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame.”

“We have a very extraordinarily expensive air base that’s there. It cost billions of dollars to build. Long before my time. We’re not leaving unless they pay us back for it,” Trump said

It's a non-binding resolution. They made a symbolic gesture to deflect heat from the mullahs.

lol, this is a perfect aping of how libs would react. If you are Trump, every move is the most catastrophically wrong move. If he cured cancer the left would try to impeach him for practicing medicine without a license.

If they want us out 100%, then we should go. Too bad they will fall under control of extremists or Iran.

Great predicament we got ourselves in.

We're going to continue to blow millions of dollars unless you pay us....

It's amazing how you guys are too stupid to understand that disagreeing with hastily implemented policy without thought isn't support of diametric policy, but a want for rational, sane policy. If it's a good policy, good on Trump. The Problem is that even when he's right once out of 800,000 times, he implements policy in a completely inept and retarded fashion because he can't even keep the White House, or his cabinet as a whole, staffed.

Jesus Christ.........

It’s understood Iraq is a majority puppet state of Iran, right? Like we failed to organize their government before Iranian loyalists from the Shia sect could occupy major government and military positions.

Previously there was some fracturing in the Shias alliances with Iran. However, I believe striking this Iranian hero down has actually unified Iranian Shias across the board.

Frankly this is a military blunder, it literally could have been better to kill this guy in Iran. At least you wouldn’t completely shit on the fragile relationship with Iraq. Dropping bombs in Baghdad was powerful but short sighted.

Makes more sense why the vote was that way given the Shiite members would have something to gain from Iran gaining power.

They are famously incompetent and corrupt politicians who can rarely decide on anything. Which is the standard for the region.

Their decisions are not binding. This is like passing a global climate change bill.

I wish we would leave entirely tho. Just maintain air and sea presence. Same with Afghanistan.

Well said and me too. Only so much we can do to help. Time to go.

No, the real problem is you and your orange man bad bullshit. Your constant insults, fake outrage, and pseudo-moral posturing make it clear that you can't think clearly about anything related to Trump. It is to laugh that you would speak of "rational, sane policy" when you make discussion of such things impossible. Now fuck off.

The original mistake was probably taking out Saddam, who if nothing else, helped to keep Iranian influence in check, and gave Iran, Israel and Saudi Arabia a common enemy to worry about.

After Saddam was gone, unless America planned to stay in Iraq forever, that country became open for business to the Iranians.

America should have been working with the ME dictators, not playing regime change. These places need strong men.

Bush and Obama fucked up, now Trump is on a path to do the same if he doesn't turn back now.
