There are differences between the iphones?
4x stronger new Corning glass, all iPhone 12 models with the same faster insides, higher res display, better camera with machine learning on the fly realtime image adjustments, wireless charging, 30 minute water resistance, 128GB base point, other stuff I forget. The 5G supposedly was designed to use less power.

Honestly, I'm on Pixel 2, it's getting a bit sluggish but it's also a 4 year old phone, and life is fine

I'm on a pixel 2XL and it's still fantastic. The only drawback is battery life and that's why I finally ordered a moto g power. It's a budget phone that may be slightly slower than my pixel 2, but all the reviews said the battery life was insane.
I figure battery life impacts me much more than having a camera that's 2% better than anything the human eye can detect.

Yeah dude, spec-wise I haven't had to chase a phone in years, for what I use it for, I can't imagine what the next meaningful upgrade might be. Pixel cams are fire, like you said, no way I can tell a difference at this point in cam development. This whole 5G shit is also missing me, I've not had issues with LTE and I don't yet have a need to stream 4K porn in public places, so I don't really get hyped up for new phones anymore.

Well they changed the length and width from the 11 to 12. I was hoping it would keep the same width (or possibly even go wider). To me that would be better for watching videos and playing games.
I was also hoping for a much better battery life.
Removing the charger and headphones "for environmental reasons" also seems ridiculous to me.
The video showed some sort of 5G in stadium audience streaming of 7 diff camera angles of football game... for when watching football in stadiums becomes safe again. Seems cool to be able to watch behind the QB angle or whatever part of the field you want.
That's almost like the reaction I get when I re-calculate how much Apple stock made for me.Apple products......
Not including chargers with each phone so you buy only if you need is better for profits. I doubt they lowered the price for the lack of charger. Standardized chargers also good so no need specific charger for specific device, but I suspect using iPad charger for iPod may have caused swollen battery.
