"Interim Titles" are growing on me.

Also, interim title fights are five rounds, and I like that.

This seems to be the way of the future, so we might as well accept it.

I'll just swap "interim title holder" with "locked number one contender" in my mind.
 
It's a good concept for reasons you said, it just looks daft seeing the No1 contender carrying a belt around.
 
They just mean nowadays that you are n1 contender, thats all.

Better then champs not defending their titles and pursuing other weight classes before defending their belts and holding the rest of the division hostage
 
i would prefer if they could make any fight they wanted a 5 rounder, instead of only main events & title fights. alas, it's an AC policy, not a UFC policy:
NAC 467.7954  Duration. (NRS 467.030)  Except with the approval of the Commission or its Executive Director:
1.  A nonchampionship contest or exhibition of mixed martial arts must not exceed three rounds in duration.
2.  A championship contest of mixed martial arts or any other mixed martial arts contest or exhibition which the Commission considers to be a special event must not exceed five rounds in duration.
3.  A period of unarmed combat in a contest or exhibition of mixed martial arts must not exceed 5 minutes in duration. A period of rest following a period of unarmed combat in a contest or exhibition of mixed martial arts must be 1 minute in duration.​
and i would also prefer more fights by top fighters and champions.

alas, this is the world we live in.
 
I wish they would just make an Intercontinental Title, then each division can have two permanent champs and all fighters can aspire to be like the Ultimate Warrior.
 
Helps clear the log jams in the divisions and kind of provides an incentive for the champions to get in there and defend their titles. So I dont mind interim titles.
 
I want "television" titles for top-quality prospects.

Exactly. No skipping over the interim champion for anything other than injuries. No more promising title shots then not delivering. Much better this way, especially in the day where champs are all asking for money fights.
 
Only thing I don't like about it is it minimizes previous legit interim titles. E.g. Nog's interim HW strap when Nog was in reality the legit HW champ after Couture vacated the belt. Nog even beat Couture when Randy returned
 
Interim titles are like getting to second base with a girl but thinking you hit a home run.

I can't wait until they start calling the third place fighter in the division the #1...

Interim Champion: Kabeeb
1. Tony Ferguson
2. Eddie Alvarez
3. Raphael Dos Anjos
4. Edson Barboza
5. Nat Diaz
etc

So 7 different fighters they can all refer to as "TOP 5 LIGHTWEIGHT!!!" lol

because people prefer clarity. i mean damn, you're talking about a group of people who (and here i exaggerate for effect) when they see one fighter barely eke out a split decision in a well fought, virtually even bout, they think the winner "dominated" and the loser "sucks".
 
They should literally make every fight an interm title fight.. Who cares?

Ive said it all along. Embrace the interims!

Guaranteed nr 1 contender: CHECK
More money for the interim champ: CHECK
More flash to promote to the casuals: CHECK

So many hardcore fans dont understand "THE FIGHT GAME" it seems.
Let me explain.
THE FIGHT GAME = wild wild west
All other sports = meritocracy
