Interim title fights should be the norm in a champ vs champ card.

Honestly this was great, if Alex won and decided to stay at LW, got hurt or a controversial win deserving an intimidate rematch then we know who is gonna be upgraded to Champ.

in cases like this where the challenger loses, now we know how the next one is at his real division, we get some interactions backstage for the future promotion, they should be ready to fight at the same time, no need for a #1 contender fight a month from now, no debate on who deserves it more, just a clear challenger.

Absolutely not.
There was no reason to have an interim title fight. If Volk had suffered some nasty injury and was going to be out more than a year or something, then you make the interim.

News flash: if the very first thing an interim champ does is unify the belt, then you didn’t need an interim champ.
