Interesting Situation

Based on what you've said, he sounds like he needs an ego check.
 
Don't pat him on the back or say anything to him anymore. You have to earn respect from people and obviously he let his emotions get the best of him, and didn't deserve it. So I would say, until you win a roll with him and he says good roll, you just say nothing to him. Don't retaliate with same kind of actions, that just makes you like him. If he was being malicious and continues to be, tell your instructor. This is how people get stupid injuries.
