Something that intrigued me was the fact that Diaz kept saying McGregor has been fighting "midgets"...which to some degree is true. Does anyone think we're kind of glossing over the fact that McGregor jumping up to fight someone at 170 might prove to be a unique challenge for him? Nate's brother kind of had a shocked look in his face when he jumped up to fight Silva, i think there's a reasonable chance that something similar could happen with McGregor. The champ is in phenomenal shape though and his a great athlete just something to ponder.

He was just using McGregor's standard insult against him, in my opinion.

McGregor couldn't exactly counter it, after he'd been calling them all midgets for over a year.

In fairness, Conor is listed as 5',8" and fighting at 145 and Diaz is listed as 6',0" and fights at 155 so there's that.

Nate has also been fighting midgets.
But few of those midgets beat him , so I'm not sure if that was best thing he should mention.

Siver isn't a midget, either. Neither is Mendes.
That's funny, since Conor called them both midgets. He called Siver a steroid midget, and Chad a big headed midget. Also, Chad "Mini" Mendes.

So the guy is bragging about beating up midgets in a weight division he basically had to kill himself to get to just so he'd have height advantage?

I think Holloway was probably the tallest / rangiest guy McG has faced.

It will be interesting to see how this fight plays out in terms of range difference, or if that even factors in whatsoever.

Porier, Holloway, Aldo >>> Nate Diaz

This made me laugh.

TS: yes, Nate will be the tallest fighter and/or have longest reach of top opponents that McGregor has faced. (someone should fact-check this though)

Nate Diaz is right.

McGregor is the Manlet Hunter.

The guy has been a natural LW, his whole life but he has been too afraid to fight LW.

All he fights are either LW's who like cutting down to FW or Manlet FW's,

Kind of true. He fought a lot of guys that he had a substantial size, weight and reach advantage over. The more he moves up in weight the more he loses those advantages. That's why him going to WW to challenge for a belt is literally comical but his fanboys can keep living the delusion. He's a solid lw though but that's where the line is drawn.

I cringed a bit every time he said it. It's one of those words that has not aged well and people should think a bit more when using it. I'm all for the idea of no particular group having ownership over any particular word, or no word being off limits, so use it as you will, but a little consciousness raising never hurt anyone.

This has nothing to do with this thread but I'd love to see Nick Diaz vs Conor if Conor defeats Nate.

Now that would be a huge build up.

Yeah, it definitely backfired on him.

People need to stop pretending McG is stepping up huge here. He's a huge FW and he himself said his natural fight weight is LW and that he walks around above 170. Nate is a natural LW too. It's not like McG is taking on Rockhold or Weidman. These guys are going to be the same size

you should get your facts straight , ufc wanted conor at FW, i guess your new account is about to go too

he wanted to fight at 155, he got an opening at 145 and he took it. obviously he made the right choice.
