Will rolling someone used the scorpion crunch on me. Immediately i felt a numb stabbing pain on one side of my chest. This has kept me out of Bjj for weeks and i recently re injured it. Can some one what kind of injury this is? thanks

WTF is a scorpion crunch, or is this some move you and your friends invented while training UFC in the backyard

i was just about to say... sounds like someone has been practicing via submissions 101.

I go to a legit school. I didn't know the partner who i was rolling with only the submission, so no i am not training by sub 101. the injury is not bad enough to go to the doctor only enough to keep me out of class.

My question is if anyone has any experience on this submission or injury associated with it.

Sounds like someone was fishing for a cool sounding name for a sub you will never get.

You have a broken rib. Sry dude. Not much a doc can do. Unless part of the broken rib is inches away from stabbing you in the heart. But I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

There's no such thing as a "not bad enough" injury. Get it looked at ASAP.

Ive made an appointment, but i would still like to get as much knowledge as I can. Does anybody have any experience with rib injuries?

Did you hear a man say 'Fatality' when it happened? If so, I think the man in the silly green mask might have killed you. Just sayin'.

Thought you werent supposed to do body scissor like moves? or is this one of those ones that escapes on a technicality?

never heard of it, but youtube has :)

ive seen that same set up for after a failed triangle but never an attack on the ribs

The "fatality" was immediately preceeded by a "FINISH HIM"

Probably not a broken rib, but torn rib cartilage. This is very common in bjj.

I have done it several times: ice, ibuprofin and lay off for 3 weeks or so. It can't be fixed. Scar tissue will help stabilze it, and you will be fine.

BUt if you keep rolling, you could keep tearing it, and keep re inflamming it and it takes forever to get better.

Anyway, it sound exactly like torn rib cartilage. Nothing you can do to fix it, just wait. Ibuprofin and ice will keep the inflammation down.
