Why do people think Max is forfeiting the belt? He ain't

You think the UFC would allow Max to hold BOTH the FW and LW belts? I mean, that is if Max wins the Interim and the actual belt, but even with just the Interim seems unlikely. If they wouldn't let Conor or DC hold both belts, what about Max makes you think he'll be able to hold both?

Holloway won't be stripped unless he beats Dustin and fights Khabib. If he beats Khabib he'll be stripped. If he loses he goes back to 145.

UFC never strips a champion going up before he wins the new title. Remember he's fighting Dustin for the fake belt. Real title fight will (presumably) be vs Khabib in November

I think they'll let him hold onto the FW one for the time being. If he wins the Interim, he can forfeit the FW Title and then focus entirely on the LW division. But if he loses the Interim Title fight to Dustin, at least he still has the FW Title to fall back on and he can always move back down and defend it some more.

Max will smash Dustin and then defend vs Edgar/Volk in June_ September. He will then face Khabib in an actual best vs best superfight.

Okay. I was going off after he wins the Interim title (if he wins), and even as far as after the LW title (if he wins).

Now that I think of it, even if he wins the Interim belt, there's no real guarantee he'll get the LW shot. With no title shot guarantee, it is doubtful he'll wanna drop the FW belt before actually winning or fighting for the actual belt.
