yeah, everyone agrees the rematch is stupid.
by letting cain have a rematch its clear the ufc wants the heavyweight division to die once again.
step by step preview of what could happen:
1.cain beats werdum
2. cain gets injured
3. contenders fight each other thus making the division even weaker
4. a few years down the road the older fighters like mir, bigfoot, hunt, nelson, barnett, rothwell, etc will retire
5. the hw division will be ever weaker because the ufc hardly signs any young prospects
so pray to the gods werdum wins
First post nailed it.
5 more fights left max
it's not stupid as long as it's a very hard fought split decision. if one schools the other, like in the werdum - cain case, the potential rematch should be at least 2 fights away.
please god save the hw div from the father of injured boredom, cain.
If Werdum smokes him again I doubt he'll come back.
I really don't get this matchup. The chance of Cain winning is slim, especially after what happened to his cardio (see Rothwell), but what if he wins?? The HW division will die.
The worst situation would be if what if Cain won? Then there would be Cain Werdum 3 and Cain would have fought just 3 people in 5 years lol..
I feel like dejavu
but but but baddest man on the planet.....
Joe said so
More like 3 people in 7 years knowing his injury rate
Yep, and if Cain wins the trilogy then he'll fight JDS, then retire Bigfoot, all while having around a year off in between each fight to recover from some injury.
I hope Werdum plows through him quick and doesn't get injured. I'm fine with Cain being a top 5 and taking time off to recover. At least the division will move forward.
It'll be 5 years.
I couldn't be less interested in watching Cain have another rematch. It's just gotten stale at this point.
That is assuming Cain is not injured before the rematch, which injuries and Cain seem to go together real well.
The guy is divisional poison. He has had by far the most disappointing run in the past 5 years of any ufc fighter imo considering what he was hyped to be. I hope he pulls out of this completely unnecessary rematch and retires. Maybe he can be a Fox broadcaster after... oh wait, he has the worst mic skills in mma. Why does the UFC want this guy as champ again??
You can't blame Cain for fighting 3 people... the HW division is so weak so that's the only competition for him. Let's be real, Cain annihlates the rest of the top 10 except for Stipe. He will run through AA, Browne, Reem, Mir, etc. just like he did Bigfoot and Dos Santos.
