Hundreds of thousands evacuated, thousands of homes lost, people dying, and this is what we get. Class act.

Got plenty of useless tweakers n wannabe gangsters we can put to work, out here in California. They're sure takin up their fair share of the welfare around here. Put them to work, and drug test them, daily. They fuck that up? No more welfare for those losers. Sterilize 'em n send them to dig dirt in Death Valley. Those who want their welfare can go clean up the brush from the forests. No extra Government Cheese needed.

California does hire inmates since WWII to help fight wildfires within the state

He's not wrong. I am really angry with our government right now and this is not or at least should not be a political issue. How the hell has it gotten to the point where removal of dead trees and undergrowth is not a priority. Its been 14 years since San Diego burned and CA is still tying our hands and itself does nothing to do manage the land.

And what do they do? Blame global warming because that is something they can say they can't change because its a world wide event and the ignore the primary cause of it while spending billions on that stupid rail.

Isn't the US forest service a federal department?
Don't federal regulations require extensive environmental reviews prior to any burn offs?
Aren't drought conditions counter indicative for burn offs?

Is there a consensus 'primary cause' though? Aren't these fires the result of several factors coming together at the same time?

Are we sure they haven't worked to do this? I'm sure they could do more, but you could always have done more in hindsight. You can argue humanity's effect on climate change, but you can't argue that it' not changing and that's going to have consequences.

Guy shoots from the hip. We can’t be babied our entire life.

Ideally after a 6 year drought you'd start controlled burnoffs of all that dead wood with the first rains.
Not exactly a small job though, and very dependent on localised conditions.

He could be right, I don't know. Are you up on forestry and the mistakes that may or may not be happening in California? It would be interesting if someone can speak up about what can be done to reduce these massive fires California has all the time.

Too much logic here. But feelings bro it matters so much to the left

I am not saying anything about climate change other than this. The crooked politicians in Sacramento fixate on global warming everytime we have a fire as a way to deflect blame from their complete mismanagement of California wilderness. And the fact someone in Sacramento decided it was a great idea to remove large amounts of native grass and other plants and replace it with Midwest grass which is cheaper grows fast but burns quickly for the same reason.

California Professional Firefighters President Brian K. Rice issued the following response to the president's threat.

"The president’s message attacking California and threatening to withhold aid to the victims of the cataclysmic fires is Ill-informed, ill-timed and demeaning to those who are suffering as well as the men and women on the front lines.

"At a time when our every effort should be focused on vanquishing the destructive fires and helping the victims, the president has chosen instead to issue an uninformed political threat aimed squarely at the innocent victims of these cataclysmic fires.

"At this moment, thousands of our brother and sister firefighters are putting their lives on the line to protect the lives and property of thousands. Some of them are doing so even as their own homes lay in ruins. In my view, this shameful attack on California is an attack on all our courageous men and women on the front lines.

"The president’s assertion that California’s forest management policies are to blame for catastrophic wildfire is dangerously wrong. Wildfires are sparked and spread not only in forested areas but in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography. Moreover, nearly 60 percent of California forests are under federal management, and another two-thirds under private control. It is the federal government that has chosen to divert resources away from forest management, not California.

"Natural disasters are not “red” or “blue” – they destroy regardless of party. Right now, families are in mourning, thousands have lost homes, and a quarter-million Americans have been forced to flee. At this desperate time, we would encourage the president to offer support in word and deed, instead of recrimination and blame."

He seriously needs to have Twitter taken away.

Not the kind of shit to send out when cops and firefighters are still in the thick of it and recovering bodies.

We all know that if the GOAT state was red he would have something different to say. This is why we need more players to kneel for the anthem
Mods shouldn't have gimmicks. Seems like trolling.

Somebody call the police, there's been a breakout at the 80s movie villian warehouse. One of em is roaming free.....

Hard to know what to say anymore. Trump says stupid and unthinking shit to the whole country, his defenders say that the president's words ought to have no effect on anyone and meanwhile the whole national conversation starts to sound like a bad thread on Sherdog.

Trump is base and his base is base.
