Most of the champs won their titles with striking, but you do have Khabib who is very dominant.

DC KO'd Stipe on the clinch break.

Jon GNP'd Gus

Rob does most of his work on the feet.

Tyron has been counter wrestling and striking

Khabib GNP everyone

Max beats you up on the feet.

TJ beats you up on the feet.

Cejudo beat DJ with his wrestling.

Grappling, you can get away with terrible striking if you high level grappling. Doesn't work the other way around.

grappling always

this should be obvious from the number of olympic level grapplers who have won titles in MMA
no high level strikers have won UFC belts

Strikers just get taken down and finished.
Nothing has changed.

Grappling dictates where the fight stays.

Eye pokes and steroids

Well that stat that 90% of fights go to the ground at some point rings true here.

Grappling is more important.

You need both. Been that way for years now.

If you’re a striker who can’t prevent a single takedown? You’re screwed.

A grappler who can’t set up his takedowns with Strikes? Again, screwed.

MVP v Daley this past weekend is an great example of the former.

Maia v Worley is a great example of the latter.

Every half decent fighter needs to learn BJJ. I hope that answers the question

Striking brings in the money so it is more important.

You can be a dominate grappler but as soon as you lose a couple you get cut for being boring. You can be a shitty striker as long as you have a chin and knockout power and you can lose 3 out of every 4, but as long as you are exciting and just bleed then you get to stay.

To be fair, no reason for boxers to switch to UFC when they win more money in their sport. Olympic grapplers have nowhere to go.

Ronda is an olympic grappler and Holly took her soul because female boxers don't earn as much as men and she switched to MMA. I know it's WMMA and all but still. If a guy like Ngannou is the most terryfing heavyweight right now, What do you think a guy like Joshua could do?

But, yeah. BJJ will always be the #1 sport to learn in MMA, that won't ever change

Ngannou is a perfect example of why grappling is important. If he get's taken down his striking is useless as Stipe showed. Rhonda lost to Holly mostly because she bought into her own hype and tried to be a striker. Meisha was able to get Holly down where her striking couldn't save her. I would love to see Joshua fight in the cage, but not against a wrestler. Him versus Ngannou would be fireworks.

Everyone on your list is except Holloway is a high level wrestler, including Knuckles who is the Australian National Wrestling Champion. And Holloway really has not fought a high level wrestler yet either, unless you count Lamas.....

ronda lost to holly because she thought she was a boxer
could have beaten her if she had grappled like miesha tate did

francis is not terrifying...did you forget that stipe dominated him with wrestling for 20 minutes? DC would smash Francis

and i would love to see Joshua get suspended by USADA

Off topic but Australian national wrestling champion means nothing. There is no talent pool. U.S state level high school has deeper talent.

wrestling is the best base for MMA, that's the way it is, that's the way it was, and that's the way it always will be.
