I know all the Chandler fans are up in arms right about now but there are a few things people need to consider when cooler heads prevail and people stop to just breathe and look at the fight objectively.
1) Round 3, by every definition was a perfect 10-8 round for Brooks. He managed to do more damage to Chandler and maintain more dominance in that round alone than Chandler did in all of the rounds that Chandler won combined.
2)The tiebreaker Round 5 showed Brooks edging Chandler out in control and better positioning for majority of the round. The announcers at first thought that Chandler had dropped Brooks in that last flurry but the replay proved that Brooks had really lost his footing and tripped backwards. The follow up punches and arm triangle attempt were quality attempts to finish but too little and too late when weighed against Brooks' overall outperforming of Chandler across the span of five rounds.
3) Does this deserve a rematch? Arguably so but not as much as people may be thinking. I honestly believe most people would still prefer seeing Alvarez-Chandler III but that is gonna have to wait now that Brooks has to fight Alvarez next.
Brooks 48-47 is justified. And this is coming from a Michael Chandler fan.
