I don't know if anyone has pointed this out but Fedor's left uppercut on Mir while backing peddaling was pretty impressive. It was accurate and Liddel-esque. Fedor backs up to the left out of the way of Mir's charge instead of straight back which is a good way to get KO'd. And while he's doing it he wings a left hook while off balance that's not only accurate but powerful enough to drop Mir. I'll admit that Fedor's and Mir's chins aren't what they used to be, even a slight gust of wind it seems could take Fedor out. Mir was also charging in which helped magnified the power of Fedor's punch.

Still, it was an impressive and accurate counter-punch by Fedor while backing up.

Fedor made smug Mir eat his words that’s for sure.

That has to be the weakest punch to ever hurt someone ever. Mirs chin isn’t glass. That would be a step up.

those punches were far more technical than most gave them credit for( including myself initially)

straight from the hips n shoulders, a little awkward movement wise as he's moving backwards but those were good hooks

I didn't get the impression it was planned that way. It was more like swing and maybe something will connect somewhere.

The only punch that looked to land solidly was when Mir was on all fours not moving.

far better angle here

movement wasn't as clean as It should've been but this is all boxing. He rolled with that shit

looked pretty hard to me bro

he was moving forward and it was right on the chin, the gif i posted shows the angle better

love that he set it up with the slap!

Yes Mir's chin is glass, but it wasn't a light punch. Mir was lunging forward and it was a (trademark) winging hook from Fedor, thrown from his hip. and although he was off-balance both of his feet were planted when he threw that shot.

Good stuff.

Very similar to Franklin vs Chuck in that Mir was moving all his weight forward into the punch, and completely off balance so there is nothing to absorb the impact.

No they were not

It was an intense fight for how long it lasted. I have to admit for the first time in a long while, I had chills watching an MMA fight.

the momentum from his hips pivoting back and forth combined with mir moving forward = no joke

it don't take much

And that wasn't weak punch at all from Fedor. It looks weak from that angle, but I just saw a vid someone posted filmed live that was taken right behind them, it shows actually Fedor getting a good leverage behind that punch, just looks off balance, but it didn't look that off balance in that vid either

watching it live i was amazed that was all it took to KO Mir. seeing it slow down one is at least able to say that it was very accurate but still looks like the kind of punch that most heavyweights take during the course of a fight without being dropped.
