As crazy as the end of the fight was, this was the part of the fight that stands out most to me. Anderson's Thai Plum is probably the best part of his game, and when he locked it up I thought Weidman was in big trouble. I couldn't have been more wrong as Chris proceeded to drop Silva with a right hook moments later. Chris said in an interview after the fight that he wanted to clinch with Anderson and believed he would be better there. As far as spectators, though, who could have seen this coming?

Truly Ando's kyrptonite. Beat Silva in all of his strengths.

Hands down low

clinch and leg kick check.

I was getting some serious Rich Franklin flashbacks until Weidman dropped him, then I remembered that Anderson was facing a "new breed" of fighter -- one that could beat him anywhere the fight took place. Another phenomenal performance from Weidman. He's going to be a tough nut to crack, for sure.

yea. knew then that Superman's cape is no longer untouchable,

agreed!

weidman is a beast.

Usually fighters don't give return when Silva has them in the clinch...Weidman came back with a quick shot to the body and a hard right to the head. Great follow up punches as well. impressive.

It blows my mind this isn't getting more attention.

Chris Weidman straight up beat the brakes off Silva in round 1, and he started it by dropping him from Anderson's signature position. The way he went low then high to drop him was incredible.

I think Silva is too bound by the old facts of mma where you were great at one thing and mediocre or poor at the rest. Silva is great standing and clinching, but when you have these new guys that train to be good in all areas from the get go, first day in the gym, that's something else. These new guys don't go through their childhood, teens, and adult life as strikers or ground guys and are too old to get better in the other aspect so it's not like they spend their whole life throwing sloppy punches and then leave their BJJ family to train boxing with poor results. It's a big benefit. I just absolutely hate that this is possibly how Silva's career will end.

Yeah I thought that Chris would just try to escape it, I didn't expect him to hurt Andy in the clinch.

I did not expect Weidman to have that much power to drop Silva in the clinch. War Weidman!

It was greatness. Silva went for his bread and butter which puts most fighters in trouble. Instead of throwing uppercuts Rich Franklin style he ripped the body then attacked the head. Well played.

It's unfortunate that the horrific leg injury is taking away from what Weidman did in that first round. Spider had Chris right where he wanted him and it simply didn't make the slightest difference.

-Outstruck Silva
-Taunted him back in the first fight
-KO'd him
-Dropped him from the thai clinch
-Broke his leg by checking a kick

Chris defeated Silva at his own game.

didn't notice how badly he was ko'ed in that punch after the replay, silva's eyes were still closed when going down.

Maybe Lutter was right about Silva's chin not holding now, cause shael dropped him down.

More a sign of Silva not having an iron chin anymore. It's still fascinating how long it held out. I mean he came up in the Chutebox camp, after all, and there is plenty of footage of him taking shots on purpose in training.

Chris has serious strength and power. Also one of the most composed and smart fighters in MMA history.

Yep. Chael cracked it, Weidman shattered it. His age certainly doesn't help matters, either.
