There is a lot going around in these boards about how people should or shouldn't get immediate rematches.

It seems fairly self explanitory to me. If you are the champion and have defended a couple of times and you win a close decision there is no need to rematch straight away.

It is for the challenger to take. The belt.

Simple

thankkkkyouuuuu, the only way i want to see an immediate rematch is if it is a clear robbery (shogun vs Machida), or a controversial stoppage such as a fighter was winning then gets dq'd

agreed to both the above and one more might be a complete lack of depth in the division wherein the only viable challenger might be the guy that just lost. something like Couture/Rizzo.
this would not be the case with JBJ/Gus.

Seems to me Jones has always been against rematches. there is nothing wrong with that

flyweights.....

Yeh outside of Silva, GSP, and Jones no one should be granted immediate rematches. Especially in title fights. Unless its a draw.

MMA is growing because the fans. IDC what jones thinks about rematches, as a fan seeing a fight like Jones and Gus's last fight is a rematch that I want to see, it was exciting from bell to bell. MMA fans are supposed to be in it to watch exciting fights and tell me what fight was more exciting than that one. Get over it, There is times where a rematch is warranted, I don't see any one crying over Anderson getting rematch when he straight up got owned in that fight, Getting beat that bad and acting that way he shouldn't of got one. GUS and Jones was 100 times closer and but people are acting like there shouldn't be a rematch. Gus fights jones and glover can finally fight a top 5'er in davis for #1 contender. I got no problem with that line up. Dana made the rematch with Anderson because of the money he's going to make not because that fight was good enough for a rematch, so because The ufc has been abusing the rematches with fights that don't deserve them really now making fights that need rematches are starting to suffer. that's the real problem.

During the 5th gus was putting his hands on his hip then when round was over he looked completely defeated. Why give him a instant rematch

Nice to know that you have an opinion like everyone else. Thank you for bringing no argument whatsoever to the debate and simply stating your opinion without backing it up... What a waste of time.

Next time you start a thread, try to have some kind of argument so people can debate.

Weidman took the belt easily and became the champion. Yet, there's a rematch. White shouldn't have opened that can of worms. Instant should just not exist, period. You should get the fight when you are the number 1 contender, and why would you be the number 1 contender if you are coming from a loss?

Where are the people who said Weidman Vs Silva was the money fight, so it's what the UFC should do? Well Jones Vs Gustafsson is the money fight, so? And it was actually a competitive fight.

Would you not say the purpoar of these boards is to state an opinion and then others to contribute?
